Quote of the week
"You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.”
― William Faulkner
From Mr. Wingfield
Middle School track season has officially wrapped up for 2023-24. I am very proud of all of our students and the way they competed, not just in track, but in all of our sporting events this year. Our MS softball team still has 3 games remaining on their schedule. Good luck to them as they help us finish our MS athletic season strong! There is so much value in team sports and working hard for one another. Hopefully that idea transfers into our classrooms and as lessons for life.
I hope everyone can find time to come out and support our HS athletes as they are finishing their regular track season next week at the district meet, and baseball and softball teams continue to compete in district play.
On April 5th we will be having a Red Carpet event for our students before STAAR testing begins the next week. We will have a 360 degree video deck and our students will be a STAAR for a day. I have suggested that students bring any thematic movie props from home that they would like to wear for their videos. On April 8th we will be taking the students out to the football field in order for them to view the solar eclipse. We will provide certified glasses for the event. If you would not like your student to participate in the event, please let us know.
Also, in regards to STAAR, please let us know if your student will not be in attendance for any days that they are scheduled (see schedule below). I know some may be showing animals @ Leon County and there may be other conflicts as well. Our knowledge in advance helps us plan so we can make sure proper adjustments are made. Thanks in advance!
Please look at every section below in order to get updates on events and/or any other pertinent information regarding Normangee MS and NISD.
In an effort to continually keep our students and campus safe, all parents will need to physically enter the building in order to check out your child for any reason. We will pull your child out of class when you arrive and have gone through the check-out procedures. Thanks for your cooperation.
If there is any other information you would like to receive through the MS Newsletter, please feel free to email me at jwingfield@normangeeisd.org
As always, if I can help in any way please let me know.

A huge shout out to our Health and Nutrition team as they continue to improve lunch and breakfast options for our students. They work hard every day to make sure they serve 100's of kids 2 times a day. Thanks for all you do!!

Capturing Kids Hearts March Lessons
In March we will focus on Courage. Sometimes it is difficult for students and adults to step out of their comfort zone. Our Monday character talks are now being led by some of our students in 6-8 grade. They are showing courage while speaking and also leading with courage. They are doing a great job!
From the Bus Barn-New Bus Management System
The Transportation Department is in the process of changing over a new Bus Management System called Bus Right. This system will enhance student safety, streamline bus communication, and manage routes at the touch of a button. A GPS system will track the bus on it's route and provide real time information to parents, administrators and route drivers. Parents will have peace of mind receiving drop off and pick up information before and after school. The system should be online soon. In the meantime, below is the information needed to download the app. Once you set it up on your phone, the app will automatically start giving you information when the transportation department has it up and running. We will let you know when that happens.
