Centerview families,
We’ll be wrapping up the 2021 calendar year next week at Centerview with our very first Winter Festival. Our students have been preparing during the month of December with each and ALL of our specialists as they work across the content areas: Media and Fine Arts, Music and Physical Education. A HUGE shout out to Mindy Daugherty, Bailey Geist Schlottman, Desirae Gillis and Kara Schreiner for their creative and collaborative design.
The Winter Festival will be an in-school celebratory event held during the regular specialist time December 20-22. Throughout the three days, students will showcase their knowledge and learning as they create, move and shake . Here is a look at the following days and activities:
- Monday: Individual K-4 Concerts, Winter Games
- Tuesday: Art Show, Art Building Activities
- Wednesday: Winter Movement and Outdoor Art Exploration Day
Due to COVID-19 protocols and mitigation strategies, parents and guests will not attend the Winter Festival days at school. Each musical performance will be recorded and sent out to family members on Seesaw and Schoology. In addition, the artwork and winter movement activities will be documented and shared with each grade level. Get ready…it’ll be a FUN learning experience for each and all.
Next week is a short week and our last day of school is Wednesday, December 22. Winter break begins Thursday, December 23. Our schools will be closed December 23-31. School will resume after break on Monday, January 3.
Take care,
Mike
Weather reminder
What crazy weather with the big snow last week and now rain. Whew, who would have thought this would come our way and it’s December. With this unpredictable climate we appreciate families sending the appropriate gear so we can adjust accordingly.
We do head outside each day for recess unless the weather does not permit. Students will need a written note from the physician to be excused from recess. Students are expected to wear boots, snow pants, coats, and other appropriate winter clothing. The following are our guidelines for canceling outdoor recess:
- Outside temperature is 0 and/or the wind-chill factor is -10 F
- Extreme icy or sloppy conditions
- Raining and/or lightning
