A Note from the President
Happy New Year!!!
I love new beginnings. An excuse to change something that you would like to do or decide to do more of something that you really love.
I know what you're thinking...you had a really fun time at the Fun Run and would love to be a part of these events more and aren't sure how.
It doesn't have to be a lot - an hour or so for the Variety Show try outs next week (we really need help with that), sitting in on a meeting and offering an opinion or giving us a tip on and awesome DJ or company that could help make our events better!
In the next couple of months we will be planning the events for the rest of the year - Variety Show, Family Dance and STEAM Night are a few of the biggies...jump in on this month's meeting and see what it's all about!
We will also be presenting changes we have made to our budget for the remainder of this year and next year and discussing future Board positions, as well.
Join us for our meeting on January 10th at 6:30 in the media center!

The Variety Show is BACK!!!!
Help Is Really Needed for the Variety Show Auditions!!!
Variety Show Auditions are coming up next week - but without volunteers we will not be able to have them!
Every student that signed up is able to participate in the event - this isn't American Idol - no one is going home. BUT we need to make sure each student's act is 90 seconds or less, that the kids have their music or props ready and they have an idea about what it will feel like to perform in front of someone (the parents volunteering and the students from their grade that are also auditioning).
There will be a simple check list for each performer to make sure they are good to go. Any and all help will be GREATLY appreciated!
Audition times:
Block schedule:
Kindergarten Thursday from 1:45-2:45
First Grade Thursday from 10-11
Second Grade Monday from 1:45-2:45
Third Grade Tuesday from 1:45-2:45
Fourth Grade Wednesday from 1:45-2:45
Fifth Grade Wednesday from 10-11

Green Committee TerraCycle Program coming soon!
One of our developing Green Committee Programs!
We will kick off our green initiative with students in January beginning with a sustainability program through a partnership with TerraCycle. Students will be able to recycle at school two items that are not typically accepted by curbside recycling programs — drink pouches and squeezable snack pouches. Students can deposit their pouches into designated containers in the cafeteria.
For every 5 pounds, the school can earn up to $50 while we simultaneously teach students how to recycle.
Have you captured a memory that we all need to remember?
Please start sending your favorite pictures from our events - like the first day of school, homecoming, the Fun Run, the Trunk or Treat, etc, to our yearbook committee!
In years past, yearbooks have been given to all students at no cost to families. These books were provided by Lifetouch, the company contracted to provide school pictures. Unfortunately, due to a significant decline in families purchasing individual student pictures, Lifetouch can no longer offer yearbooks at no charge. Therefore, yearbooks must be ordered ahead of time for a student to receive one at the end of the school year. Ordering a yearbook is simple and can be done by simply clicking on the link below! The cost is $6 per yearbook with options for additional features if desired. Orders are due by April 10, 2023! Thanks for ordering a Glengary yearbook!

Put your business front and center with a yearbook ad!
In years past, yearbooks have been given to all students at no cost to families. These books were provided by Lifetouch, the company contracted to provide school pictures. Unfortunately, due to a signficant decline in families purchasing indivdiual student pictures, Lifetouch can no longer offer yearbooks at no charge.
In an effort to offset the cost of the yearbook for families who may not have the means to purchase one, the Glengary PTA is selling advertisement space in this year’s
yearbook. Each ad will be in color and consist of ⅛ (or the size of a business card) of a page at the conclusion of the book. The cost per ad is $50.
If you would like to purchase advertisement space, please do the following:
1.Complete THIS FORM
2. Provide Andrea Halimi with the ad (exactly as you would like to be printed in the yearbook)
3. Submit payment, either cash or a check made out to Glengary Elementary PTA. All items can be sent to Glengary Elementary School PTA, 3070 Woodbury St, Commerce, MI
