Important Reminders!
The third nine weeks is a time that many students begin to slip in grades and responsibilities a bit. We do not want that to happen, so here are some quick reminders to help keep you headed towards success! Parents and Guardians, please spend a few minutes discussing the items below with your student.
Academics
- Write down all assignments in a planner each day and check each night to make sure you have completed them.
- Check your email AND PowerSchool every day. Set an alarm on your phone to remind you, if needed.
- If you have any missing assignments or low test scores, email your teachers to set up a plan for making them up or redoing work.
- Make reading 20 minutes a night a priority (set a timer, if needed).
- Check your book bag to make sure you have pencils, paper, notebooks on a weekly basis.
- If you need help, ask. We want to help you be the best student you can possibly be and we are here for you.
- Be sure to charge your iPad EVERY NIGHT.
Other Good Habits
- Place your ID in your book bag each day after school, so you don't forget it in the morning.
- Wear your ID around your neck at all times during the school day.
- Phones need to be out of sight (in book bags) and not in use in classrooms. (You may use them in the hallway and during lunch time only, please)
- Please keep hoodies off your head when in the school building. Hats are also not permitted on campus.
- Be respectful of yourself and others. Let's treat all with kindness!
Lady WarHawks are Lex-10 North Division Champs!
The WKMS Lady Hawks basketball team set a school record this season by winning the #1 seed in the North Division. Finishing the season with a 14-2 record was an incredible feat and they could not have done it without the hard work, talent and dedication of the players, coaches and everyone involved with the team. Congratulations to them on their success!
2024 Lake Murray Polar Plunge!
On Saturday, Feb 10, 2024 White Knoll Middle School Special Olympics team placed First Place in the Lake Murray Polar Plunge for Special Olympics. White Knoll Middle School raised a total of $15,863 for the Special Olympics and were able to be joined by students, families, teachers, administrators, and community members at the event. Congratulations to WKMS!
Be Pro, Be Proud - What an Awesome Visit!
The school counselors at WKMS celebrated Career and Technical Education month with a visit from the Be Pro, Be Proud mobile workshop. Eighth grade students had the opportunity to explore careers in the skilled trades through eight simulators, like truck driving, operating a forklift, and carpentry. Coordinating career exploration opportunities helps students connect education to world of work.
WKMS Dance Company: 3rd in State
In February, the White Knoll War Hawk Dance Company made history as the first representatives of WKMS at the South Carolina Dance Team State Championships. After some extremely tough competition with all of the middle schools in the state in their category that qualified for state, the girls brought home 3rd place in middle school Jazz. What an amazing accomplishment for these War Hawks!! Please make sure you congratulate the girls as you see them this week! What a way to end the season!!! Coaches Cooper and Egan are extremely proud of the hard work, blood, sweat, and tears that these girls have put in this season!!
