WSSD Elementary Library
Week 10
Hello WSSD Families,
Now that Memorial Day is behind us and the weather is getting warmer, we’re sailing into June! For our last SMORE library lessons, we’re focusing on summer fun, and the many activities we can do. Wallingford and Swarthmore are perfect places to enjoy bike riding, building a fort, planting a garden, getting back to a favorite hobby such as building models, baking & cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, writing nature logs, stories, cartooning, etc. Summer is also a favorite time, for endless summer reading. Your summer reading list is coming out soon, check the books below, they’re all on the 2020 WSSD Summer Reading List. Get a head start reading some on Epic! now.
With the ease of our Epic! classroom accounts, you can check intriguing titles out anytime, they’re always available through June 30th. Lessons are crafted around humor and/or summer fun, always giving students the flexibility to choose their own literature experiences. Our resources and activities are selected to attract a wide range of ages and reading levels, so pick your favorites to share with your family.
WSSD students have produced some remarkable SMORE library lesson activities, shared your baking treats, STEM projects, and responded with insightful answers to library lessons. We are thrilled with your hard work!
Feel free to reach out with questions or feedback.

Author Spotlight of the Week! Matt Christopher!
Our librarians’ favorite author pick of the week goes to Matt Christopher. He was a gifted athlete, who played many sports growing up. Matt became a professional baseball player before starting his life-long career of writing action packed sports novels. They’re always popular with kids who love sports. To celebrate the summer’s arrival, our pick is Stealing Home, a baseball favorite. Go to TumbleBooks on your library website below, and find your favorite title from Matt Christopher’s collection to share with your family.
