Annual CTE Day on February 9, 2018
Dr. Phillips began the event with a welcome and overview of CTE in Sumner County. Chase Moore, CTE Coordinator, then provided specific information about current initiatives in CTE. Brandon Hudson (TCAT Nashville) and Kevin Harrison (TCAT Hartsville) spoke about what is happening at their respective institutions, while Allie Johnson (1st VP of TN FCCLA) and Julia Knaggs (President of TN FFA) gave inspiring speeches about how much CTE has impacted their high school careers. After an outstanding lunch provided by Chef West and Gallatin High School's Culinary Arts program, Candi Norwood (Director of Student Success with the TDOE) discussed how Tennessee is looked at as a model for CTE throughout the country.

Gallatin High School CTE Student of the Month
Senior Briana Rickman is the January Career and Technical Education Student of the Month at Gallatin High School. Mrs. Wendy Vincent, her Anatomy and Physiology teacher, says, “Briana has come a long way since her first Health Science class and is very determined both in the classroom and out.”
The GHS Anatomy and Physiology class is designed to develop an understanding of the structures and functions of the human body, while relating those to the causes of diseases and disorders. Brianna is a part of Clinical Internships, as well, this semester.

Hendersonville FBLA Students at Regional Leadership Conference
Hendersonville High School FBLA members competed on Monday, January 29, 2018 at the FBLA Regional Leadership Conference in Clarksville, TN. HHS students walked away with 30 contest placements in a variety of business subjects. Among the highest achievements were Kamali Baskaran (1st place in Cyber Security), Leighanna Martin (1st place in Job Interview), Cory Graham, Alex Moss, and Nathan Pack (1st place in Marketing), Andrew Crockett (2nd place in Advertising), and Maddie Gardner (2nd place in Accounting I). In total, 40 students qualified to compete at the FBLA State Leadership Conference in March. Additionally, 23 students received the Future Level of the Business Achievement Award and were recognized at the Regional Conference.

6 competitors qualified to go straight to State for their work on their written events completed during the Honors Marketing 2 class. This is the largest group of PHS DECA students that have ever qualified to attend the State DECA competition.
