Getting to know Inertia
By: Julia Sibert
Inertia
Newton's first law..... Law of Inertia
The law states~ a object will stay at rest, and a object in motion will remain in motion at a constant velocity unless an unbalanced force acts upon it.
What's Inertia ?
Inertia is the resistance of any physical object to any change in its state of motion. This meaning change in speed, direction, or state of at rest.
WARNING!!!!!!!
Inertia can be found anywhere! Do not be surprised if you are just rollerblading along the side walk and unexpectingly come across one of those rises in the sidewalk that make it uneven and you fall. Your feet would stop but your upper body would keep going..... Thanks Inertia. The rise in the side walk is your unbalancing force.
You loose to Inertia......
The bike is stuck in the ground but you keep going. Thanks inertia! The ground is acting as the unbalanced force that changes your motion.
I don't think he meant to do that......
As in the bike picture, the motorcycle stopped while the man keeps going. The tire wall is acting as the unbalanced force that changes the mans motion.
Gravity
Gravity comes into play too. The coin is in the constant state of rest and once the paper is gone gravity causes it to fall. The act of flicking away the paper is your unbalancing force.
