WEEK 9 UPDATE FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT
As many of you know, not every school in our area is in session yet. What we have been able to accomplish is truly a team effort with everyone doing their part.
Our staff and teachers have made the impossible look easy and I need to make sure everyone understands; it's not easy.
We can currently report that we have had one staff member test positive at K.C. Elementary. We have currently, suspended face-to-face instruction for that specific classroom and are waiting for further guidance from the Health Department.
Please rest assured if there are any concerns specific to you or your children that either a building principal or myself will contact you directly.
We continue to follow our return to learn plan and guidance from the health department, the department of education, and other oversight that has been provided.
Please continue to encourage your child to utilize our free breakfast and lunch program for all; it makes your morning easier knowing that breakfast and lunch are already taken care of.
We still remain cautiously optimistic that we can continue our positive trends but need everyone to do their part by doing daily health screeners, keeping sick children home, and following the 3 W's: wear a mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance.
There continues to be a trend of more and more virtual students returning to face-to-face instruction. Our rate of face-to-face students remains relatively the same at slightly less than 90% +/-.
When available we encourage you to watch our sports teams utilizing our streaming network. Tomorrow night our undefeated Varsity Football team will be on the road against the Wolfpack of Laingsburg. Unfortunately, there is no steaming network or plans to live stream the game at this time.
Our goal is to be back in school five days a week; at this time, we continue to review our format and will continue remote Friday on October 30th.
Below is a proposed draft calendar for the remainder of 2020 (November and December).
If you should have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at 989.642.5282.
All the best,
Don Killingbeck, Supt.

Athletic Department Fundraiser
These water bottles/tumblers come in navy or pink and can be customized with a jersey # or first name on the front and a last name on the back. This keeps others from guessing who's bottle is who's.
Samples are available in the high school office to view. There is a quick turn around on the orders so no waiting for weeks or months to get your order back. All order forms should be turned into the high school office as well.

The Richland Township Park will be selling Daffodil bulbs to raise money for needed park items and also to maintain the new Daffodil garden we will be installing at the park. Bulbs may be purchased and donated to the park for planting or they may be purchased for your own use at home. Regardless of whether you purchase the bulbs to be planted at the park or for your own use there will be a donor board/frame at the park recognizing those who contributed.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY!!!
Initiated in 1990, this is a national day devoted to helping others by doing volunteer work in the community. The activity can be almost anything. On this day, millions of Americans participate in community improvement projects. It takes the form of cleanup, fixing up, painting, and repair in poorer neighborhoods, parks and municipal facilities. It doesn't matter what project you take on. It doesn't matter whether you help a non-profit organization, the community, your town, nursing home, a church, a food kitchen, or any other group in need. What matters is that you participate.
Although 2020 makes this day a little more difficult .... Make a commitment to help others for just one day. Make a difference on Make a Difference Day!
Did You Know? Each year on Make a Difference Day, ex-President Jimmie Carter gets out his hammer and saw, and helps to build or rebuild housing in underprivileged areas. If he can do it, so can we!!!
