What's the Buzz?!?
April 18, 2016
I'd like to thank Kris, Mallory, Stephanie, Eileen, Tara, Julie and Shelly for all of their work in getting our future Falcons screened. They provided a wonderful assessment process for the students and the parents!
I'd also like to take some time to thank Kathy Ott for all she does to prepare our students well for the Sacraments. I recently attended a confirmation as a sponsor at another Parish and was made aware of just how lucky we are to have Kathy. She plans each aspect of Mass, whether it be a Friday Mass or a Confirmation Mass, with beautiful details and precision. But she doesn't stop there- she encourages each student to foster a relationship with Christ and grow in their Faith. Her passion for her students and her work is apparent in all that she does!
I'd also like to thank Judy, Theresa, Mary Alice, and Linda for all they have done in their individual classrooms to prepare students for their sacraments. It is such a special relationship they are forming with our students and it truly is wonderful to watch it unfold. Thanks, Ladies!
I'd also like to thank all of the teachers and staff members who attend the State of the School Address on Thursday. I know the week gets so busy for all of you, but your outpouring of support was integral in the success of the meeting!
Finally, I'd like to give a BIG THANK YOU shout out to James for two reasons! The first being that he stayed after school on Thursday to help me prepare technologically for the State of the School Address. Also, I'd like to point out James' creativity in the video he created with the students for Vocations Sunday! He did a great job and really molded a great video with little direction from me. Thanks, James!
- I will be out of the building tomorrow from 10:30-1:30 with Father Thomas as we attend a luncheon with the Bishop!
- This Wednesday, April 20 I will be out of the building all day with the 8th graders as they attend Borromeo Seminary for their Discovery Day.
- FFN is attempting to streamline the school supply process! They are asking that you get together with your partner teachers, as well as the others on your floor, to come up with a cohesive supply list. For example, each teacher will require dry erase, binders, folders, etc. The idea is that we are able to purchase the school supplies and sell a kit, of sorts, to parents. I realize that not every class will need the same items, however, there are many common items that teachers request that we can create a school supply kit. Please let me know if you have any questions at all. I would like the lists by Friday, April 29.
- As we near the end of the school year and look forward to classroom placement next year, I ask that you gather with your partner teacher in order to make class recommendations. I ask that you prayerfully reflect on your students this year and try to fashion a class list that is not solely based on ability level. Please have tentative class lists to me (via Google Docs) by Friday April 29. If you choose to do them sooner, that is OK too!
- Right to Read Week will take place May 2-5 for grades K-4! We are looking forward to many fun events that center around a campfire theme. While I know that the 5-8 graders have many things going on in class, and a lot of material to cover before the end of the year I still want to get them involved for a couple of the days. Please mark your calendars for Monday, May 2 at 1:00 PM- we will have an all school assembly to kick off the week!
- Friday, May 6 will be the May Crowning. Please mark your calendars and look for more details to come soon from Kathy Ott.
- I hope you are all able to join me on May 10 at St. Vincent-St. Mary for a band concert. The gym will be open at 6:30 PM and the concert begins at 7:00 PM. Our students would really love your support as they show off a polished product and all of their hard work!
- 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th grade teachers: Mark your calendar for a day of fun on May 16. The Benoit and Pham families will be holding an end of year picnic for your classes. Mrs. Lloyd will provide you the necessary permission forms.
- Because we are already modifying the calendar to have our last day of school on May 27 instead of May 31, we will not be making any additional changes, this includes an early dismissal on the 27. An early dismissal on the last day of school is something I will include on our 2016-2017 calendar. That being said, I ask that all teachers turn in their keys and have their classrooms completely ready for Summer on Tuesday May 31 by 5:00pm. We will give your keys back to you and allow teachers in the building on August 10. On May 31, please ensure to take all of your personal belongings home. There is generally a lot of movement in and outside of the classrooms to ensure that we have everything in tip top condition for the next school year.
