Upcoming Important Dates
State Mandated Closure through May 15
Online Scholastic Book Fair, May 4 - 15
Teacher Appreciation Week, May 4 - 8
Dear Families,
As you are aware, Baltimore County Public Schools developed a continuity of learning plan that included print materials and use of a digital platform. In response to the MSDE extension of the school closure through May 15 due to COVID-19; feedback from families and students; and the goal to provide enhanced learning opportunities for students, please see the expectation for students attending Chadwick Elementary:
· Each student must attend their weekly meetings with their teacher to address both reading and math content. Class meetings through Google Meet will include both social emotional learning and academic instruction.
· Each student can participate in each Special Area class weekly (STEM, Library, Art, Music, and Physical Education).
· Parents and students are encouraged to reach out to teachers for support. During Office Hours, teachers are available to provide opportunities for small group and individualized support.
Students have the option to do either the digital lessons on Schoology or the print materials:
- In order to support student access to these instructional enhancements, Chromebooks have been mailed to students in grades K-5 who requested devices. Students are expected to complete the lessons online and submit their work through Schoology.
- If students are completing the print packet, they should complete the work in the packet and submit work through Schoology as directed by their teacher as all students are provided Chromebooks if requested.
It is critical that all students remain engaged in learning. Teachers are actively monitoring students’ attendance and participation in class meetings, as well as providing feedback on assigned classwork. If you have any questions about what your child should be doing while at home, email their teacher through Schoology for clarification. Communicating and collaborating with your child's teacher is critical more now than ever!
Grab and Go meals, from the BCPS Office of Food and Nutrition Services, will continue to be available Monday – Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chadwick Elementary. This link provide additional food resources provided by Baltimore County.
As always, I want to thank you for your continued support of our school community. We miss our students and hope that all our families are well.
Sincerely,
Ms. Miller
