Public Speaking & PSA Contest
The PSA category must follow the topic "4-H Grows True Leaders". All 4-H PSA's must include the following tagline within the last ten seconds: "Learn more about Nebraska Extension 4-H Youth Development Program at 4h.unl.edu." The tagline is included in the 60 second time limit.

The 4-H Council also initiated a new monetary award regarding the Speech and PSA Contest beginning last year. 4-H youth are encouraged to compete each year of their membership by giving a speech or public service announcement. Members competing in Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Division throughout their 4-H career will receive $50.00.
This will be retro-active for current 4-H members. Compete in the 2018 Speech & PSA Contest to be eligible to receive the cash prize.

48th Annual York-Hamilton Cattlemen's Beef Progress Show
Pre-registration is required by Wednesday, March 28th at $35 per animal. The day of the show it will be $40.
Registration & weigh in: Friday, March 30 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. & Saturday, March 31 from 7:30-8:00 a.m. Show starts at 10:30 a.m.
Hoegemeyer Cares Scholarship
Applications can be found at www.rightseed.com and must be completed by April 1.
Recipients will be notified via phone by May 1 and the scholarship awarded during the Fall semester 2018 upon proof of enrollment.
4-H Poultry Judging Clinic
Registration is due Friday, April 13th.

Spring Fling Dressage Schooling Show
Open to all ages to benefit the 4-H horse program.
Entries are due April 25th.

"Ride-A-Test" Dressage Clinic
The Lancaster County Horse VIPS committee, Esprit De Corps 4-H Club and Nebraska Dressage Association are partnering to offer opportunities for 30 minute “Ride-A-Test” or “clinic” format rides on Sunday May 6 at the Lancaster Event Center– Pavilion 3, the day following the Spring Fling Dressage Schooling Show.
You may specify a dressage test you’d like to ride for the Judge, then have a discussion following, or you can choose to have a clinic ride for the 30 minutes.
They will be accepting a limited number of riders, with an emphasis on Western Dressage. Western riders will be given priority, however, depending on time and interest, Traditional Dressage riders may have an opportunity as well.
Sign up for this exciting opportunity on the Spring Fling Entries are due April 25th. Times are on a first come, first serve basis so don’t wait!
Youth Horticulture ID Contest
Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each of the age brackets. Contestants will be required to sight ID Horticultural plants to the accepted common name. The list of possible plants and study guides are available at: http://madison.unl.edu/theplantfair

Time: Competition begins 6:15 PM, Awards Presented 7:30 PM
Location: Chuck Pohlman Ag Complex, Northeast Community College, Norfolk
Prizes:
- 1st Place - $25 cash AND $25 gift certificate for the Master Gardener Plant Booths
- 2nd Place - $10 cash AND $15 gift certificate for the Master Gardener Plant Booths
- 3rd Place - $10 gift certificate for the Master Gardener Plant Booths
The ages for brackets are broken down as follows:
- Junior – 8-11 years old
- Intermediate – 12-14 years old
- Senior – 15-18 years old
Youth Volunteer Opportunity
The Northeast Nebraska Master Gardeners could use your help! They hold an annual Plant Fair & Market at the Northeast Community College Chuck Pohlman Ag Complex in Norfolk and need volunteers to help with getting the patron’s items out to their vehicles. Wagons will be available.
The plant fair is Friday, April 27, 5:30-9:00 pm and Saturday, April 28, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Call the Nebraska Extension Office in Madison County at 402-370-4040 by April 20 to sign up for a time that would work for you.
