Phoenix News
Collegiate Academy at TCC Northeast
MAY 23, 2021
Phoenix Family,
As we close out the school year, Congratulations to the class of 2021! You Did It!! Best of luck on your next steps! I am confident you are prepared and will be successful! All students thank you for your hard work and determination this year. It wasn't the year we wanted, but was the year we were given and you did your BEST!
Report cards will be posted next Thursday, May 27. Students, if you haven't completed a TSIA test, please join us Monday. - Wednesday next week from 8:35am - 1:30pm for TSIA Prep and testing. Walk ins are welcome! See more information below.
After June 4 to July 19 it will be difficult to get in touch with someone at Collegiate Academy building. If you need a VOE form or will need one, I suggest you get it now! We will be back in the office on July 19. This summer, hopefully, everyone will be able to travel or visit family or whatever you didn't get to do last year!
The next Phoenix News will be on Sunday morning, August 1! Enjoy your summer!
Always grateful,
Bobbe Knutz
From the associate principal
In wrapping up my last year as the AP here at Collegiate Academy, I want to say how thankful and grateful I am to have been a part of this amazing school for the last three years. Our faculty, students, parents, and TCC Northeast partners are among the best I’ve ever worked with, and CA will continue to grow and improve because of the diligent work of these wonderful people. I’m especially grateful for our fearless leader Bobbe Knutz, and I know that she will continue to lead this school to new heights in the years to come.
Also, congratulations to Lauren Jackson! Lauren will be stepping into this role for the 2021-22 school year, and she will do a great job carrying the fire for Collegiate as our new AP. I wish her all the best.
For those who might be wondering, I won’t be going far. I’ve been an attorney since 2009, and I’ve decided to devote this next chapter to starting a litigation practice here in the Grapevine-Colleyville area. Like so many of you, I will continue to support and celebrate all that GCISD is doing for our community; this is an amazing place for students to learn and grow!
Thank you all. Your kindness and friendship have made all the difference.
Onward, Ever Upward!
Matthew White
counselor corner
First of all I’d be remiss if I didn’t say thank you to Matthew White for his time and effort he’s given to all of our Collegiate Academy students, staff and families over the past three years. We’re very excited for next year but we’re also very sad to see Mr. White go. Good luck!
Answers To Questions You Might Ask Over The Next Couple Of Months
How do I get the textbook for my summer classes?
If you haven’t gotten the textbooks for your summer classes yet you need to do a couple of things. First, reach out to Mr. White to make sure your name is on his list that the bookstore has so that they can provide your book. Then, you’ll need to go to the TCC bookstore and let them know which class you need books for and they’ll provide them.
What if I start doing poorly in my summer classes and want to drop them?
If you want to drop a summer course you need to reach out to me first. I’m in the office pretty much all summer so I should be able to get back to you quickly. Dropping or failing summer classes will prevent you from being allowed to take summer classes next summer, so if you doubt your ability to be successful in online summer classes this year, then email me ASAP so we can get you out of your classes.
What if I want to add a summer class?
At this point we are no longer enrolling students in summer classes. Our original deadline for the application to summer classes was in March and we’ve extended that through the last day of school but at this point we are no longer enrolling students in new summer classes.
What if I want to change my Fall 2021 College Schedule that I’ve already sent?
If you want to make changes to your college schedule I need to approve it. If you make a change that doesn’t fit with your high school schedule you will be dropped from the college class, so make sure it fits and make sure you communicate!
What if I pass my TSIA during intersession next week?
If you pass your TSIA and want to change your schedule I’ll be here to help you get that done! Make sure you reach out to me when you finish and we can get together to sign up for your new classes and make your new plan.
When will my schedule be finalized in Skyward?
We’re way ahead of where we normally are at this point of the school year. Your schedule on skyward should be pretty much complete at this point. If you look at your schedule and don’t see your college classes it’s because we don’t have them and you should share them with me in a way that I can see the times of the classes so that we can put them on your schedule.
What if I need a letter of recommendation or VOE?
Email me and I’ll get both of those to you as soon as possible. If you’re a rising senior, and you think you’ll need a letter of recommendation for college (you will) let me know and I’ll try to get them done over the summer so that we can all stress a little less during the fall.
