August 15, 2022 Parent Update
Greetings Imagine Broward Families!
Dear Imagine Broward Families,
Tomorrow is our first day of school. We can't wait to see all the smiling faces! It is going to be a fantastic year as we are Soaring to New Heights! Thank you to PTO and our families for a successful Meet and Greet.
New Addition Update
We are thrilled to announce that tonight we officially received our certificate from the city to occupy the 12 classrooms in the new building, our Soaring Hall. Furniture has been delivered and installed. Tonight we are installing telephones and wifi. We have a few final touches before we officially move in which we are hoping to accomplish this week.
Car Line
To make tomorrow go as smooth as possible, please make sure to follow our specific car line procedures. Maps by grade level are below.
- Under no circumstances should parents be parking on the grass on school property or off of Westview Drive, on the Cleveland Clinic, Studio 6, or Coral Springs Industrial Complex. This was specifically communicated to us by the city.
- Walker sign up is reserved for those students that live within two miles of the school. People crossing the road at NW 56th slows down our car line and results in parents parking in areas off limits. This is a requirement from the City of Coral Springs.
- Do NOT arrive early, as you will be asked to go to the end of the line. Please don't worry about your child being late, staff is aware that the first two weeks of school the car line moves slowly. Your child will not be marked tardy.
- Anytime you are on campus (arrival, dismissal, etc.) have the car line dashboard placard and the rearview mirror sign visible so we know you are authorized on campus.
- If you are dropping off or picking up for before/aftercare, make sure you use the front entrance and do not park on the grass.
Below are items again for your review as we start the new school year:
- Students may NOT bring rolling backpacks, please purchase over the shoulder ones
- Students are to wear closed toed sneakers or comfy shoes that are appropriate for PE class and recess. No boots, Uggs, Crocs, sandals, slides, etc.
- Sweaters and sweatshirts must be solid navy blue with NO writing or logos unless the Imagine Schools logo.
- Students in grades K-5th will be required to use a school issued student planner. Please bring $5 and pay your homeroom teacher.
- Students in 3rd grade will be learning with recorders in music class. The cost is $5 and payment can be made on our school store.
ParentSquare
We are excited to announce that we adopted a new form of school-to-home communication at Imagine School at Broward called ParentSquare. This unified communications platform is designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourage greater engagement and connection with Imagine School at Broward. It provides a safe way for school principals, administration, teachers, staff, and parents to:
· Send and receive school and class information
· Share pictures and files
· See calendar items
· Sign up to volunteer
· Schedule parent-teacher conferences
· and much more . . . all in one centralized place!
School, grade level and classroom information will now be sent to your computer or phone via email and/or text. For even more convenience, download the ParentSquare app (available for free for iOS and Android devices).
Have questions? Click the question mark in the top right corner of the desktop version or the Help tab on the app (tap the triple bar icon at the top left) to find answers to most of your questions. Due to the functionality of ParentSquare, we will slowly be phasing out REMIND and our current provider for parent updates. So please sign up now.
Uniform News
As we approach the start of the school year, we want to encourage all to be prepared for the start of the school year with school uniforms. An overview of our uniform policy is below. Please ensure our students are in appropriate uniform attire each day.
Uniform bottoms are approved in the colors of khaki or navy and choices are outlined in the uniform policy. Please also consider the need to be prepared for cold weather days when students will need long uniform pants. These days can sneak up on us.
The largest variation from our uniform policy we see on a regular basis is that of hoodies or jackets. We do have approved school hoodies for sale at InUnison. All hoodies and jackets must be COMPLETELY free of logos and in the colors of navy. Even a small logo in the side corner of a hoodie or jacket is not compliant. Wearing a hoodie inside out so as to hide the logo is not a long-term solution. I am specifically asking for your help in ensuring students are in uniform in the area of jackets and hoodies and students do not wear the hoodie section on their head inside the building.
Thank you for your attention to ensuring that each of our students has appropriate uniform attire for this school year. Coming to school each day in compliance with school policy shows strong respect for our school procedures and rules. On the other hand, choosing to come to school out of uniform means a choice has been made to break a school expectation before the day even begins. I know that our Phoenixes want to show school spirit and great respect for our expectations.
Safety
For the 2022/2023 school year, we will have our school officer returning as well as adding on an additional security guard on campus daily. Over the last few weeks we have begun to install our new security paging system throughout our building. We have also been working with our local police department, CSPD, to ensure we are covered through our city for additional security measures. CSPD will be helping out at the beginning of the school year with traffic flow as our new car line procedures begin.
The school has purchased 45 hospital grade air purifiers for our school that rated for greater than 99.99% elimination of covid virus within 15 minutes.
Breakfast and Lunch Program
The state has discontinued the free breakfast and lunch program for the 2022-2023 school year. We will have a representative available at Meet and Greet to assist with lunch account set-up. The new pricing is listed below:
Breakfast: $2.50
Elementary Lunch: $4.50
Middle School Lunch: $4.75
