5th Grade Photos
Hello 5th Grade Families!
On the last day of school, we play a slideshow that gives highlights of each students’ journey through elementary school.
The 5th grade send off team is reaching out with a time sensitive request - the deadline is May 1 - to share a few key photos, ideally ones that your student selects, to be included in the slideshow.
Photo need:
Baby photo (plus one toddler photo, optional)
Kindergarten
5th grade (present day)
Another photo that shows off something unique about your child. For example, doing their favorite activity/hobby, on an adventure, a proud accomplishment, etc.
Up to three additional candid photos
Look for specific instructions from your student’s 5th grade teacher on how to upload photos. If you have any questions, reach out to Kris Wentz-Graff at yearbook@wtvptc.org and Heather Sorensen at heather_sorensen@mac.com. Thank you!
Staff Appreciation
Staff Appreciation/National Teacher Appreciation Week is Coming!
Plus Staff Giveaways All Month Long
National Teacher Appreciation Week is traditionally celebrated the first week in May. This year, the PTC has a few activities planned to treat our staff for the entire month.
We could use your help to show how much we love our All Star Staff!
Are you looking for a more personalized option to show your appreciation?
Check out the list of WTV Staff Favorites. This list will continue to be updated, so be sure to bookmark it.
- April 15-30 - Bring in prizes to the office for daily staff giveaways in the month of May.
- Our goal is to gather at least 36 items/prizes, equal to the total number of staff at WTV.
- Suggested Items: Coffee cards, Powell’s gift card, Target gift card, Trader Joe’s gift card, Amazon gift card, snack grab bags, pedicure gift card, treat gift cards (Crumbl cookies/Salt & Straw/Nothing Bundt), mints & gum mixed pack, MOD Pizza card, Panera gift card, pens, notebooks, small plants, etc.
- Each day, Susan Boos will draw names and staff will come to the office to claim their prize.

K-2 Art Lit Parent Volunteers
There is now a separate Mary Cassat follow-along movie just for grades K-2. I pre-printed the "head/hat" drawing on smaller heavy paper (9"x12") so the K-2 students may now simply draw their flowers, trace over all the lines with oil pastels and complete with watercolor wash. Enjoy!
All Star Reading Club
The All Star Reading Club is West TV’s voluntary incentive program to encourage students to read. Students read a book from the genre of the month and complete a short summary and submit it to the All Star Reading Club basket located in the library.
Continent Club
Welcome to Continent Club! WTV's geography enrichment program for grades 1 - 5. Students/Parents/Guardians download the study materials and have fun together exploring the world through geography. All WTV students are quizzed at school on six Continent Check days during the year.
Continent club is optional, but is a great way to bridge the geography knowledge gap. Short on time? Start with just the continents and the first four countries! It's a wonderful way to build a foundation for global literacy and inspire curiosity about the world, initiating the first steps to your student becoming a global citizen.
Download these study materials and study at home:
The Carnival is Coming!
The Carnival will be on May 17th this year. We will be needing approximately 60 store bought "cakes" (any desserts will do), and volunteer opportunities are going to be posted on MyImpact.

District Reminder Regarding Overdue/Lost Books
Hello West TV families:
Each year the district sends out 3 reminder emails about overdue/lost books. This is just a reminder about books needing to be returned, NOT a statement that they need to be paid for at this time. We encourage students and families to take some time to look for those overdue/books and work together to get them returned in a timely manner. Attached is a link to the district's online payment system so if it does come to that point, this is the easiest and most efficient way to pay for any lost or damaged books.
Here are two links for the Online Payment System:
- Instructions - Overall instructions on what to do, straight from the BSD website
- Payment Site - Direct link to start set up/payment
Request from the Social Media Team
Hey West TV family!!! The Social Media team would love to feature pictures that you have taken from school events. We have a link that you can add your photos to and save them in the specific event folder.
Anyone with a Gmail address can drop photos into the event's folder. Folders for each event were created so when anyone drops photos onto the social media site you will be able to place them in the specific event folder - such as the All Star Dash (folders are dated to help manage order).
Here is the link to the main folder:
