Principal's Message
Hello Sabre Families,
I hope that you all had a wonderful week at school after spring break. My gosh, this place is hopping and I always am amazed about how engaged the entire school community is. From athletics to the arts, to student initiatives everyday. I am grateful to be a part of this environment. Superintendent Sandra Stoddard visited our school on Friday, April 12 and her first comments were that Sal has such a warm feeling and culture and it really does.
This is a busy Sabre Scene so here we go!
Salisbury Baker Takes Gold:
Congratulations to Dustin LaRue (12) who took home gold, at the Regional Skills Baking competition! Dustin has spent a great deal of time honing his skills in the bake shop and his effort has paid off. Dustin will compete in the provincial competition May 8 & 9. Thank you Mrs. Higuchi as you have put in the time and effort to guide him to this result.
R12 Student Registration:
Returning Grade 12: Any current Grade 12 student that is planning to return to SAL for the 2024-2025 school year, please see Mrs. Feledichuk in the Guidance Department to add your name to the list. You will be required to provide a list of the courses that you are planning to take during your R12 year.

5. Monday, May 13 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. - We are looking for 8-10 parents, not couples, to give greetings from parents/caregivers. The filming takes approximately 15 minutes, and is done by Orange Fountain and they always are very professional with their approach. This will take place in the library. Please email Mrs. Schultz at liane.schultz@eips.ca with a time that works best for you and the best phone number to reach you at.
Day of Graduation:
Saturday, June 1 - Graduation 1:00 p.m. at the Expo Centre. Graduates need to be there by noon. Prom is 8:00 - 10:30 p.m. and doors open at 7:30 p.m.
Complete your census online starting May 1, 2024.
The 2024 municipal census begins May 1. Watch your mail in late April for your personalized PIN number. We strongly encourage residents to use the online platform for its efficiency, convenience, and security.
Starting May 13, our dedicated census workers will conduct door-to-door collection for households that have not yet participated, while the online option remains open throughout this period.
Visit Strathcona.ca/census for more information.
Earth Week:
Salisbury is celebrating Earth Week with many events running in the cafeteria and throughout the whole school. Salisbury Composite has been a Certified Platinum Eco-School the last 2 years and it would be great to continue this streak.
One of the most interesting initiatives this week is Wednesday, April 17: Waste Free Lunch Day. Students and staff are being challenged to have a ZERO waste day! Reusable containers, bottles, cups and cutlery. The Cafeteria will go zero waste as well and remove all single use convenience products! We will serve fries on plates and have reusable cutlery for you to borrow. Remember to bring your own mug for coffee, hot chocolate or tea!
Parent Advisory Council Meeting:
Our next PAC Meeting will be held on April 24 at 6:00 p.m. in the Upper Library. Minutes from the February meeting are attached below along with the Agenda for this month's meeting.
Any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
