Principal's Message
Bears,
This morning, I had the pleasure of attending a portion of the Central Maryland Conference Student-Athlete Leadership Conference. During this event, student-athlete leaders from across Frederick and Washington Counties worked together on a variety of leadership activities and lessons. Our students represented us well, and I learned quite a bit about mindset, leadership, and the needs of student-athletes in our school. A special thanks to our wonderful Coordinator of Athletics, Mr. Mark Wolcott, for all the hard work he puts in with our athletes, coaches, and community members every day.
Next week is the final full week of April! We have many exciting events planned, including an opportunity to see our Spring Musical, Chicago: Teen Edition. Please come out and support our Bears and they perform. Have a great weekend, and I’ll see all of our students on Monday.
Mr. Caulfield
Proud Principal

Chicago: Teen Edition Opening Next Week!
In less than a week. . .the Oakdale High School production of the Broadway musical "Chicago" will open next Thursday and run through that Saturday. Great seats remain for all shows, but purchase your tickets in advance to secure your seats AND to save money! Tickets sold in advance are $10 for FCPS students and $14 for adults. All tickets sold at the door, regardless of student or adult, will be $18. Tickets are now available at www.ShowTix4u.com.
Adapted in collaboration with the Bob Fosse estate, Kander & Ebb's legendary and award-winning musical about fame, fortune and acquittal has made some slight adjustments to the original script so "Chicago" can be performed by high schools around the world. "Chicago: Teen Edition" has been adapted to remove overtly sexual references and harsh language while maintaining the music and dance excellence that have made this a "killer" musical for 50 years! If this musical was a film it would be rated PG-13 for some language and discussion of murder.
Director Mike Copen states, "We are so excited for our community to see this incredible piece of musical theatre! It's an incredible piece of dark satire about fame and fortune that still speaks to the world today. The students have been working so hard to perfect the Bob Fosse choreography, and our live, pit orchestra sounds fantastic on the difficult Kander & Ebb score. All of the students involved are going to impress everyone who attends. It's just a great show that I know our school community will love"!
Purchase your tickets right now at ShowTix4u.com!

Welcome to the Great UnGnome - We hope you will participate in this popular Safe and Sane Event! What is the Great Un-GNOME SURPRISE? You make a donation to Safe & Sane (As little or as much as you want/can!) and provide the Name and Address of the person you would like to send a set of Garden Gnomes to. Our Oakdale Bear Gnome trappers and our special team of GNOMIES will put the gnomes in that person's front yard. The goal is to keep the GNOME TRAIN going! Your GNOMIE will then make a donation (if they can!) and list another name and address, and it keeps going! This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for us, and we hope you participate! If your senior has not been gnomed and you would like them to, please reach out to us at oakdalesafeandsane@gmail.com.
Event Tickets - Our Safe and Sane event is being held on May 23rd from 11:00 pm- 5:00 am at Adventure Park. Tickets can be purchased for $100 until April 23rd. After April 23rd, the price will increase to $125. This event provides a safe space for seniors to graduate following graduation. Parents can go home knowing their senior is in a safe and fun environment without the risks associated with the statistically deadliest night for young adults. We give away great prizes, good food and have many activities for the seniors to do the entire evening. Tickets can be purchased at: https://www.oakdalesafeandsane.com/event-details/ohs-safe-and-sane-2024-early-bird-pricing

The Safe and Sane Committee is seriously in need of senior parents to help with our event. We need help planning, fundraising, and need parents the night of our event. Right now, the majority of the people on the committee do not have a senior, and we are struggling to find help. If we do not get more support and assistance, our event may not be able to happen. Please consider helping to make this wonderful event happen! Your seniors deserve it! Email oakdalesafeandsane@gmail.com if you would like more information.
