In addition to neighborhood schools, elementary families have several options for their K-5 education. Until March 15, families can lottery into dual language immersion, focus option, and alternative programs through ParentVUE. Reach out to your prospective school or attend an info session to learn more:

Attend the 2024 District Student Council Summit (March 7)
This student-run event (hosted by the District Student Council) connects schools and groups, helps students learn about issues facing our district, and elevates student voice in decision making. Be a part of conversations covering:
- mental health
- Title IX
- racial equity and social justice
- legislative advocacy
- environmental justice
- district operations

2024-2025 School Year Calendars Now Available
On Tuesday night, the Board formally approved next year's calendars. Those can be found below.
PPS Jazz Dominates
March is Music in Our Schools Month
Throughout March we want to highlight the amazing music education happening in Portland Public Schools:
- classroom lessons
- formal performances
- informal hallway jam bands
The All-Star Awards Ceremony is Portland Public Schools’ premier recognition event for students and communities of color to relish in a night full of excellence, community, and celebration. The event features five group recognitions:
API Voices for Asian and Pacific Islander student honorees
New Portlanders for students honorees who’ve recently made Portland home
SĂ Se Puede for Latinx student honorees
Take Flight Native Pride for American Indian and Alaska Native student honorees
Young, Gifted, and Black for African, Black, and African American student honorees
Nominations will be open Monday, February 19, 2024 and close on Monday, March 18, 2024. Students will be honored on Thursday, May 30th, 2024.
PPS Announces the Dates for Summer Acceleration Academy
Once again, PPS plans to offer Summer Acceleration Academy to support students with academic learning gaps. This year's Academy will take place between July 1st and August 1st (pending funding).
Details including:
- criteria for participation

- daily schedule
- hub site locations
Enrollment invitations will be sent prior to Spring Break.
