Guidelines and Tips for Peer Review
One of the main practices of academic writing is peer review. In the classroom setting, this entails students exchanging essays an getting feedback from their classmates. For our purposes, we will be using the discussion board to exchange essays. This week you will need to post a draft of your essay (file, don't copy and paste) and then respond to your classmates' essays. Choose two-three essays and look over the essay for the following:
- Punctuation and Grammar
- Content
- Does it follow the instructions?
- How can it be improved?
- Does it connect with the writings?
If you have a specific question for your reviewers, please post that as well!
Additionally, if there is a aspect of writing you know you struggle with and would like your reviewers to focus on, then let them know about it!
In your responses, you have two options.
- You can download the file, "insert comments," and then attach the file.
- You can provide DETAILED feedback in the reply form. Be specific and give direction on how to improve or fix issues. Simply writing "Great Job" or "I liked your essay" will not give you credit for this activity.
