The Evangelical Movement
What is the Evangelical Movement?
The Evangelical Movement is a worldwide transdenomination movement. The Evangelical movement as such began in the 1730s and 1740s with the first “Great Awakening,” involving the preaching of George Whitefield, Jonathan Edwards, and John Wesley. The evangelicals believe in being born again into the faith and believe in conversionism, biblicism, cricicentrism, and activism. It is difficult to define a specific definition of evangelicalism, but in general, evangelicalism represents a loosely confederated movement of Protestants from the eighteenth century to the present believing in the need for a conversion experience, a personal relationship with Jesus, and relying on the Bible as the standard for faith and practice. Many other movements have come from this movement, but this movement is still in full swing today.
Mysticism
Mysticism is a religion based on mystical communication with an ultimate reality. It had spiritual matters involved and was experienced as a direct communion with God. People believed that they could get to talk to God, and even meet him in the end, through Jesus. It began in the early 1800's but was progressively more popular as time passed. It started with Christianity and after it got popular there, it spread into other religions also.
