Effective Written Communication
General Communication, is the all types of communication, everyone uses verbal communication everyday which is the most common. Every time you speak to someone you are communicating with them. The other types of communication would be Written, E-Mail, Letter, or over social Media. When talking to some face to face you can have a totally different type of convocation just by being able to see them and what their body language is like, and what tone of voice they are using. All these things you are unable to judge when speaking via E-Mail over SMS or social Media. For example, if you are talking to a group of people during a presentation then you’re more likely to speak louder and use hand gestures to help clarify what you’re talking about. A different example would be when talking to someone via social media, you’re unable to see how that person is reacting to your messages or what body language they have portrayed.
Interpersonal Communication, is where you speak face to face, written or via letter or E-Mail. An example for face to face communication would be talking to a friend and they become agitated you will be able to tell just from the facial expressions and their body language also the way that they talking and using the tone of their voice. Another example would be when talking to someone they may use active engagement, this is where they use nodding or hand gestures and summaries things in the convocation. If you email someone they cannot see your body language or how you are being with them and messages can be misconstrued.
Written Communication, this is having the ability to be able to write in an exact way using the correct language to describe or inform someone of something. It has to be written in a way that is understandable and can be passed on to multiple people to inform them of something. A large percentage of the population uses written communication on a daily basis. This means that written communication extremely important. Written communication is a good way of keeping hard copies of letters or post which is sent. A lot of people prefer to use this type of communication because they feel more comfortable with it in comparison to sending an E-Mail. The reason for this is that email is not always reliable and people sometimes do not receive E-Mails when they should have.
Barriers to Effective Communications
Barriers
Barriers To General Communication, there are many different barriers that have an effect communication and causes difficulty in interoperating messages or letters that you receive. Different Cultures can have drastic effects on communication people who are talking face to face or people who communication in groups. Some people when in groups won't speak up and give ideas because of their background or culture. This can cause barriers with other people within the group that may not understand what is being spoken about and these members could help if they used their communication skills. Communication barriers can occur in different ways for example, employees who are in group discussion with managers or superior staff won't speak the truth because they are worried about the consequences. This could be vital information that could help with a major decision within a company but however is lost because of a barrier in the communication. A role in a company should not cause an effect to your confidence to speak up and tell things how they are or how you think they should be because it is just an opinion or fact so there is nothing wrong in communication and telling someone the truth.
Barriers To Interpersonal Communication, When communication with someone face to face, there can be a few factors that may get in the way of you being able to understand a message or piece of information being conveyed by someone. A large factor would be Noise interruption which causes major disruption to communication. If you are holding a convocation with someone and you have noise interruption then your messages may be misinterpreted and things could then be missed when it could be vital information. It would also be very hard to focus on what's being spoken about so you may miss pieces of information being given. The noise could even just be other people around you talking but it may distract you from the convocation you are having. Other barriers could be if you are trying to speak to someone who is partially deaf then they may find it difficult to understand you or hear you, they may miss information you are giving them, for example you could be a doctor giving the patient advice or information about their health and they may not be able to hear you therefore you would have to adjust to the situation and speak to them a little louder so that they were able to hear you.
Barriers To Written Communication, another form of communication barriers would be through misinterpretation. for example when emailing someone, they cant interoperate the tine of voice when putting the message together therefore they wouldn't know what context its being written in. Also you wouldn't know what sort of body language they have when putting the message together. However if they were to be face to face then both people would be able to see body language and any gestures are used and it would be much easier for them to understand what the message meant if there was to be any misunderstanding. Writing letters would be the same fro when typing an email, another barrier for this situation would be if the email or letter was to lost then or damaged you may not be able to understand what the message says. Also the recipient of your message may be dyslexic which would be a disadvantage to them and they may need help trying to interoperate the message. a good way to find out that they understand your message would be to send them a second message to check that they understand your message. This will give them the opportunity to reply and ask for you to maybe word things in a different way or explain more about what you mean.
