Summer School 2016
Dates: June 20th-August 4th
LitCamp
- Our Summer school runs for five weeks. We have around 130 students in grades Kindergarten through 8th.
- Teachers group their student in each grade level by what skills they need in reading.
- The students work on comprehension, phonics, free reading, and writing,
- Parents will be notified each week on their child's progress.
- Students qualify for summer reading help if their Iowa Assessment or STAR shows they are not proficient in reading. (Literacy Policy)
Bell Tower
We took our K-8th grade students to the Bell Tower where students had a chance to ride up to the top and were read a story. We would like to thank Kwanis for this opportunity you provided to our students!
Public Library
We worked together with the Public Library on getting our 7-8th grade students library cards and time to check out books.
Student reading
Students work on:
- Phonics
- Comprehension
- Writing
- Free time to read each day
State Literacy Policy
The state has pushed back 3rd grade retention for students who are not proficient in reading until 2018.
