Important Information for You!
Field Trips, Walk-a-Thon, Early Release, Author Visits...Oh My!
Field Trip-As you all are aware, field trips to For Mar Nature Preserve will be taking place this week. On your field trip day, staff may wear jeans and their Thomson Staff t-shirt. These field trips are possible due to the Sandy Hynes Memorial fund that was dedicated to Thomson and our students. I will be sending a letter to Sandy's husband Eugene later this week and would love to be able to include some wonderful pictures. If you happen to get a really great photo, please share it with me. Again, a huge thank you to Crystal and Brenda for all their planning. If you have ANY questions or concerns, please see me right away.
Walk-a-Thon-This Friday is our PTO Walk-a-Thon fundraiser. Hopefully we will have a strong showing for this fundraiser as our fall fundraiser did not do as well as we would have hoped. Anything you can do to promote the Walk-a-Thon is greatly appreciated and benefits your students, your classroom, and our school. At the end of your time at the track, each student and staff member will receive a Kona Ice prior to heading back to school. New this year, families will be invited to join their child's classroom at the track for the Walk-a-Thon. Parents/family members must check in by the back gate and will be giving a visitor badge. They will also be able to purchase a Kona Ice for $2 from the PTO table where additional donations will be collected. If a parent wants to sign their child out, they will have to come back to the office to do so. You are NOT to release a child to their parent at the track. Staff may wear appropriate athletic style gear and tennis shoes on Friday.
Early Release-Early Release is this Wednesday, as always students will be released at 1:28 p.m. Our staff PD session will run from 1:45-4:45 p.m. We will begin in the library for some work on Balanced Literacy and the Literacy Essentials before breaking into PLC groups.
Author Visit-Next Tuesday, author Denise Brennan-Nelson will once again visit Thomson. If you have any questions about her visit, book orders, the scheduling, please see me, Cheri, or Anna right away.
Staff Appreciation Week!
What a wonderful and fun week we had last week! Our PTO really gave us the VIP treatment last week. If you were not here last Friday, be sure to stop by the office to draw a number for a special prize. Just an FYI, there was lots of taco meat, chips, shells, and cheese left over, please feel free to have some for lunch today if you'd like. Again, I would also like to thank you all for your participation. I had a blast and loved the positive, upbeat vibe in the building. What a wonderful way to head into the last five weeks of school...yes, we are down to five weeks with our little ones.
5D+
This week I will be working on forth round observations and finishing one third round that I could not seem to get to last week. Even with all the is going on over the next two weeks, my goal is to finish up all all forth round observations prior to intersession. I appreciate you maintaining your schedules as close to normal as possible. It is important that you complete your responses to my noticings and wonderings within 48 hours during this last round of observations. Thanks for your continued focus on strong teaching and learning!
Cardinal Code Focus of the Week:
This week the Cardinal Code focus is RESTROOMS. Please take the time to review appropriate restroom behaviors including: getting in, go, wash, return to class. It is also important to remind students to make sure that their used paper towels end up in the garbage cans. This helps keep the building looking nice for all of us.
