Dolphin Newsletter

Principal's Message
I can't believe we are already at our spring break! When we return in April, the rest of this school year will truly pass us by. This newsletter has some quick updates and important notes about some upcoming events. Beginning on Monday, April 4th, we are excited to return to a "normal" routine and parents will be allowed to drop students off on campus. We know how excited parents are to come onto campus again and to see the classroom where their students are working everyday! Our staff will politely remind families that they will need to exit campus at 8:12 so instruction can begin, but we are excited that this small piece of normal can return. Pick-up will remain the same as it has been so there is no interruption to instruction at the end of the school day.
We had a great morning celebrating our middle school students and their academic achievements. Students were recognized for academic awards as well as Dolphin Creed awards. It's always great to see our students take pride in their accomplishments! It was a great way to segway into our spring break next week. We hope you and your families have fun, rest and reconnect over this spring break and we'll see you in April!

Drop off & Pick Up After Spring Break
After Spring Break, we will be allowed to have visitors on campus. We know that parents are excited for this opportunity, so we want to outline some guidelines for drop off and pick up. During drop off in the morning, parents are welcome to walk their children to their classroom, but we ask that all families exit campus by the start of school at 8:15. Late bird Kindergarten students will continue the check in process we have used all year because these students enter school after the 8:15 bell. We are a closed campus, and as such, we will continue the same pick up process as we have done all year. This process has helped us ensure that students exit safely and efficiently from campus.
Changes in RCSD Schools after Spring Break
Changes in RCSD schools after Spring Break. These include:
- Parents will no longer need to submit Student Daily Wellness Forms.
- Visitors, in alignment with our visitor guidelines, will be allowed back on campus during the school day.
- Parents may come on campus before school and wait with their children in line but must leave campus promptly at 8:12 AM.
- School events and activities can resume in person.
Some protocols that will remain the same are:
- Parent volunteers will need to continue to be cleared through our Human Resources department.
- COVID testing will continue on Mondays and Thursdays.
- Isolation and quarantine requirements will remain in place.
- Students and staff will still need to provide a negative test to return to school.

Message from Natalie, Clifford's Equity Coach!
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Over the past two weeks, students who regularly attend my room received two equally important lessons, one on integrity and one on names. To learn more about integrity we read The Empty Pot, a classic tale of a boy who showed much integrity to inherit a kingdom. Our second lesson about names, gave the students an opportunity to learn the importance of names and discuss how they got their names. Names are such a big part of our identity. Many students seem to know how they got their names but most did not know how their parents or caregivers got their names. If you have time, share the origin and story about your name with your student. The more we know about our family history the more we can connect to it. In addition, we talked about why it is important for people to pronounce names correctly and how to correct people who may mispronounce names.
Here are three book suggestions to help you continue the discussion on names at home.
Have a wonderful Spring Break!
Natalie
