-Daughter of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn
-Elizabeth was 3rd in line after her half brother and half sister and she outlived them both
-Elizabeth became queen at age 25 and ruled for 45 years
-Elizabeth was hated at a very young age

-Painted by English artist John Bettes the younger
-Defeated the Spanish Armada (a fleet of 34 ships and 163 armed merchant vessels)
-She achieved an excellent reputation as a good and wise ruler who was truly loved by her people and had many accomplishments.
Impact on Today
-By the time Elizabeth died she had made England one of the strongest, richest countries in the world
-Her intelligence allowed fashion, the arts, music, and literature to take a huge leap forward
