Clear Creek High School Updates
Week of April 3, 2023
Student Holiday
Friday, April 7, 2023 is a student holiday.
Counseling Center Updates
23-24 Course Verification – Beginning the week of April 10, current 9-11 students and parents will have an opportunity to view-only courses entered in Skyward for the 23-24 school year. This will be the final opportunity for a student to request a course change. There will be an online form available for the student to make the request in Its Learning. All course change requests are due by Friday, April 28th.
Class of 2024 Counselor Individual Conferences – Current Juniors are in the process of having their individual conference with their assigned Counselor. This is a great opportunity to confirm courses for the 23-24 school year, discuss plans for after graduation, confirm credits earned thus far towards graduation, and anything else your Junior needs more information on.
Tussock Moth Caterpillars
Each spring Tussock Moth Caterpillars visit our area, and specifically the CCHS courtyard for about 4 weeks. This year we believe that they started showing up around spring break. They love our hard wood trees and can be found looking to make cocoons on surrounding benches, awnings, or play spaces. During this time, they are an important food source for some birds, reptiles, and other beneficial insects coming out of their “over-wintering” phase.
The hairs of this caterpillar have the potential of causing an allergic reaction in the form of a short-term skin irritation. In some cases, a reaction to the caterpillar’s hair may require first aid administered by the school nurse.
Pesticides have proven to be of no use in controlling these caterpillars and instead pose a high risk to non-target beneficial insects. Physical removal would be the best form of control but is impractical on such a scale. The current district standing is to increase awareness and education about this temporary nuisance as it will certainly be encountered outside of our campuses and in the region in general for years to come.
Seniors Helping Seniors
To Parents and Guardians of our Seniors, please share this information with your student, we are looking forward to this awesome event! Please have your student sign up by Wednesday, April 5th.
~SENIORS~ Your help is needed! On April 27th Clear Creek High School is partnering with Clear Creek Community Church for our FIRST ever “Seniors Helping Seniors” event. This will be a time of community service during the school day for any Senior that wants to sign up. CCCC is providing us with a few senior homes in our community that are in need of some assistance with minor repairs and beautification. In order to plan we need to know who we can count on, please complete this form to let us know we can count on YOU! https://tinyurl.com/seniorshelping
Once we have an idea of how many houses we can support we will begin planning the day and sending out more information. If you have any questions or helpful suggestions please contact Assistant Principal, Holly Kent at 281-284-1736 or hkent@ccisd.net.

2023 Summer STAAR Academy

The no cost course will take place June 5th through June 16th at Clear Lake HS, and transportation is provided. Please see the flyer for details and how to enroll.

Attendance & Absent Notes
Student attendance in every class every day is crucial to their academic success. Compulsory attendance laws require a student to attend each class at least 90 percent of the days it is offered in order to receive credit or a final grade in a class. When a student's attendance drops below 90% of the days the class is offered, the student may earn credit for the class by completing a plan approved by the principal.
As we continue to transition back to pre-COVID attendance expectations, starting Spring 2023, all absences that are not school-related business (UIL absences, field trips, approved college visits, etc.) will count toward credit appeals. The maximum number of absences a student may accumulate per course for this semester without losing credit is nine. If you have questions specific to your child's attendance, please contact their assistant principal.
If a student is absent, a parent/guardian must provide a note showing the dates and an explanation for any absence within three (3) days after the student’s arrival or return to school. If this note is not sent within the allocated three (3) days, the absence will be unexcused.
