April 23, 2021
Dear Sherwood Community,
Another great week at Sherwood is in the books. We hope to see many Sherwood families tomorrow at the Month of the Military Parade! Please click the link below for more details if you are planning to join in this wonderful community event.
Please join us in congratulating fifth graders Hal S. and Liza L. for being nominated and recognized for the Highland Park Character Counts Pillar Awards last night. We are so proud of them for being honored for their exemplary character during their time here at Sherwood!
Also, a huge thank you to all our parents and families for their caution and understanding as we have come back to full-day in-person learning. Our staff have been working with me around the clock to ensure that we are able to keep our students safe and effectively contact trace in the event that we do have a positive case of COVID in our community. We will continue to openly communicate when we have a case identified in our community, but in order to respect the confidentiality of our students, we will not be able to tell parents which class or which students have been affected. We continue to work with the Lake County Health Department and follow their guidance through these processes.
Wash your hands.
Wear a mask.
Watch your distance.
Stay safe everyone!
Panda Pride,
Rachel & Kevin
Month of the Military Parade Information 4/24/21
We are so excited to wave to our military families on Saturday, April 24th @9:00am who live in Ft. Sheridan to honor and celebrate the Month of the Military Child!
UPDATE - We will NOT be live streaming the Month of the Military Child Parade via North Shore School District 112 Facebook Live. HOWEVER, an amazing video of the parade will be released the week of April 26th!
PLEASE understand that the streets in the military housing area cannot accommodate vehicles in the parade AND additional cars from the community. Please do not come to the Ft. Sheridan neighborhood if you do not live there.
We know how much everyone supports our military families, and we are so thankful!

COVID-19 PCR Testing Information
We are excited to welcome students back full-time over the next two weeks! As shared at the Board meeting last night, we are offering weekly COVID-19 PRC testing. We highly encourage all families to opt into this opportunity as the goal is to further reduce, prevent the spread and increase school community safety.
Testing is voluntary and will require consent to participate. If a child were to test positive, the District will consult with the Lake County Health Department and refer to the IDPH Interim Exclusion Guidance.
For information on the screening please refer to the below documents.
- FAQ
- Consent Form
- IMPORTANT: when using a cell phone device Turn OFF the Mobile-Friendly button and click OK (to see the complete text)

If you wish to have your child(ren) participate in the COVID-19 screening, a consent form will need to be completed for each child. The consent will remain open for the remainder of the school year and must be completed by Sunday to participate in the following week.
