Thought for the Week
Our area is getting ready to see our first, real snow of the winter season. I'm sure that Friday morning will see a rush to the grocery store for bread, milk, and eggs (for copious amounts of French Toast-making, I assume). I've already arranged with my sister which movies we're watching and what snacks we need to pick up.
We love snow days - it's a "free" day off where time seems unimportant. We have time to sleep in, relax around the house, occasionally help shovel the drive, and maybe do a little work. We can't go anywhere (probably shouldn't go anywhere) and the world feels like it shuts down. It is a forced respite from the hustle of the week. I'm of the opinion that snow days are best enjoyed in a warm room, under a warm blanket, with a good book, ideally near a window that affords a view of the snow.
While many of us go out in the snow to play, there are plenty of people who will be working in this weather. Even though it may feel like the world has shut down, we know that, in reality, it continues to turn and life continues. Hospitals stay open, roads have to be plowed, power lines go out, snow has to be cleared, and someone has to do it. While we're settling down on the couch, people are braving the roads to get to work. As you suit up to go sledding, remember that doctors and nurses have been camping out at the hospital. Please remember those people in your prayers. Oftentimes we forget about those vital services until the power goes out or we are stuck in the snow.
I hope you enjoy the snow and the respite it brings. I encourage you to stay at home if you don't have to leave. Stay warm and stay safe.
- Liz

Youth Program of Media Presbyterian Church
The Youth Ministry programs at MPC has long been a place that welcomes teenagers to embrace their questions and their struggles with faith in a healthy and safe environment.
The Youth Program is led by Ms. Liz Remelius, Director of Youth Ministries. Liz nurtures a deep love of education and believes that there is "a divine beauty in learning." She hopes that anyone who participates in MPC's Youth Ministry will be equipped to ask questions, search for answers, and turn that knowledge into action, both in the Church and the world.
