Meridian High School
November 1st - 7th, 2020
Our Mission:
Principal's Message
Turning the page of the calendar from October to November means we are nearing the mid-point of first semester. It also means we are only a few days away from transitioning out of our current rotation of classes as students will return to their 1st, 3rd and 5th period classes on Monday, November 9th.
It is important to work with your students to make sure they are completing all their work for this cycle of classes. Skyward, Google Guardian and asking to see your student's grades in Google Classroom can assist you in working with them to make a plan for how to use their time wisely this week. You can also use the T3 Week At a Glance segment on the MHS website to choose which classes to attend this week during our T3 support time.
In addition to T3 sessions and office hours offered Monday through Thursday, you can also reach teachers by phone or email if you have questions about your student's progress or missing work. The link to their contact information is found here:
https://www.meridian.wednet.edu/mhs/staff-contact/
While these grades are not final, it is important to get as much work completed while still in our current 2/4/6 classes so a student's time and energy can focus on their 1/3/5 classes starting Monday, Nov. 6th.
If you have questions that you can't find answers to in this week's newsletter or by looking at our website, please contact me by phone at 360-398-8111 or by email at dforbes@meridian.wednet.edu.
Stay safe. Stay healthy. Go Trojans!
Derek O. Forbes
T3 is designed for students to receive the support they may need in a particular class. This could be making up an assessment or working with someone in a small group to help ensure that concepts are being understood. Teachers can assign students to attend a T3 in which case attendance is mandatory.

SAT/ACT Information
Traditionally when applying to a 4 year university, students have been required to take either the SAT or the ACT as an entrance requirement. However, in our current COVID-19 state of affairs, many colleges in the state have gone to what they call a “Test Optional” registration process. This simply means score for one of the tests is not a prerequisite for acceptance. It is vital to check the website of any college to which you may be interested in applying to discover their specific requirements. Each college has different deadline, and expectations. To give yourself the best chance of being accepted, be certain to meet every deadline and turn in each required piece of the registration process.
ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
Being present in class is vital to be successful in school. We want to encourage all of our students to be at school every day! If you are missing school, you are missing out on learning!
