Highland Happenings
December 2019
Standard Time, Winter Time, Normal Time...
Well, clocks might have turned back an hour, but I am pleased to note that we finished strong this fall, garnering many accomplishments in and out of the classroom. Thank you to our teachers and staff who devote many hours beyond the school day to support an active school community. Every evening and weekend students compete, volunteer, and represent PLAID in our community.
When we return from Thanksgiving , we have less than three weeks before final exams. Our annual "Cookies, Cocoa and Cram" student study session will on December 16th from 2:30 - 5:30 pm, and transportation will be provided. Locations and study sessions will be posted around school and listed in the bulletin.
Even as we prepare for finals, students will compete at Mock Trial (12/11), and they will perform at a Choir Concert (12/10) and Instrumental Music Concert (12/12).
Christmas Break is from December 21 - January 5, 2020. The office will be closed with the exception of December 31st for payroll checks. We return to school Monday, January 6th.
See you in 2020!

Dream Big
Fourteen of our EL/Migrant juniors and seniors attended the 2nd Annual Dream Big Conference at Bakersfield College on November 15. Besides having fun and interacting with students from other KHSD schools, they learned about financial aid, EOPS, AB 540, Dream Act, campus resources, and the BC student experience.
