Quick Start Guide for K-12

Do your students control or consume technology? The ability to create with technology will empower our students to be creative, solve complex problems, and allow them to take advantage of exciting job opportunities in every industry. The Hour of Code is a one-hour coding challenge to give students a fun first introduction to computer science. In this workshop we will learn how to bring the Hour of Code to your classroom or school. We will take away all your fears and show you how Hour of Code can be easy and fun for you and your students. You will learn about classroom tested tools for implementing the Hour of Code, including how to connect your students with real computer scientists in your local area.
Learning outcomes include:
- Learn about the importance of computer science for all students.
- Learn how to get all students excited about computer science and empower all learners to code.
- Plan for implementation of Hour of Code at your school.
- Explore proven methods for attracing quality computer science volunteers to your event.
This workshop is offered at no cost to those districts participating in LS2, including Abbotsford, Altoona, Bloomer, Bruce, Cadott, Chippewa Falls, Colby, Eleva-Strum, Flambeau, Gilmanton, Greenwood, Lake Holcombe, Loyal, Mondovi, Neillsville, New Auburn, Osseo-Fairchild, Owen-Withee, Spencer, and Regis Catholic Schools. (Discount will be automatically applied.)
The cost for all other CESA 10 districts will be $500 per participant.
