Parkhill Primary School
Issue 10, Friday 8 May 2020
Dear Parents/Carers
Week 4 - been and gone! The weeks are flying by.
Last week we asked the students to give us feedback through a student voice survey that Alex Davies developed with the Communication Action Team. The data showed that the children across the school are enjoying the hands-on learning tasks and the face-to-face meets. The data collected allows us to be reflective and continue to modify what we are presenting to the students. For example in the Y4/5 cohort the students loved the teacher videos, giving feedback about how they could be improved. The teachers will take the feedback onboard and make some simple changes to improve the delivery of content.
Below I have added a survey for you. We are keen to gather data on specific areas of the remote learning platforms and learning content now that we are 4 weeks in. If you could spend a few minutes giving us feedback that would be super! We are looking for feedback that helps us to improve.

On Friday 15th May the teachers will be planning. There will be no new learning tasks posted on this day and teachers will be unavailable to give feedback or have face-to-face meets. Children can use this day to catch up with their specialist classrooms, mathletics and reading tasks.
During this time it's more important than ever to look after your own and other’s mental health. We are social beings and enjoy contact with others. At the moment we are limited in our contact with others because of the restrictions in place and are spending more and more time in our homes. Below are some links to information about CoVID and some simple but fun activities and ideas to help stay positive!

Children miss their friends! Lots of families are using platforms such as Google Meet to connect their children. Some ideas I have heard of include children sharing learning times, for example sharing their art learning together, chatting through their STEAM activities or even just a catch up! Why don’t you give it a try?
If you have any questions or feedback for us please do let me know - we don’t know what we don't know and you are living the platforms on a daily basis from the other side of the screen. Your knowledge, thoughts and information are super valuable to us at this time. brady.elaine.e@edumail.vic.gov.au

Have a super fun weekend

F1 have been busy in STEAM designing and building houses and creating fantastic toy shops in maths.
The 2/3s have created some amazing roller coasters from lego.
We continue to be thrilled by the amount of wonderful work being created across the whole school.
The Tunnel
I start wandering down the tracks, with every step I take, an alarming and horrifying chill shoots up my spine. Suddenly my leg vanishes right in front of my eyes.
I stumble back in horror. I mutter and stammer under my breath “What the-”. I take a step forward again just to see I am not hallucinating and my leg disappears again but this time I feel a wet lick on my bare skin. All of a sudden I slip and fall to the ground because there is tugging on my leg, the tugging becomes yanking and then bitting! I screech as half my body vanishes as I’m pulled in. I immediately start scraping at the dirt vigorously holding on for my dear life. As I am pulled further in, nearly my entire body vanishes.
I hear a rumbling behind me. I look back and as I see a huge hairy green hand appear out of the ring grabbing me by my hair, the yanking comes to a stop. My stiff eyes glare at a monster you only see in your nightmares. As it takes a breath I nearly pass out as it reeks of unshowered humans… wait, humans! As it opens its mouth wider, I glare at fleshless human bones wedged in the gaps of its teeth that are hinged to the gum of its colossal mouth. I squint my eyes in pain and tears begging myself not to take one more look at the hideous monster. I cannot help myself but look and the only thing I hear and see is black rotting teeth baring at me and the sound of grumbling, this tunnel is a magical trap for a free meal.
