High School Student Skills Update
In this week's Student Skills Tutorials conducted by Mr. Duchaney, SMS high school students learned practical tips for getting organized at home and at school. Students were encouraged to dedicate a space for study. Into that space students would set all of the tools they need to complete their homework: paper, pencils, pens, calculator, dictionary, etc. Eliminating the time wasted in searching for basic student tools allows the student come immediately to the study place and get to work. Keeping the locker organized helps students bring all of the needed tools to class and eliminates the need to carry an overstuffed book all day long.
The student skills tutorials will conclude next week with instruction on three critical student skills: note taking, reading/writing, and studying. In providing focused instruction on these core skills, we hope to provide our students the fundamental skills to pursue academic excellence and to make the most of the education offered at SMS.
