Erin Horgan, Counseling Assistant
Photo is of Ms. Erin in the Play Room with Lovey Dove
Hello. My name is Erin O. Horgan. The students call me Ms. Erin. I am the Counseling Assistant at Hooker Oak. We are so lucky to have a playroom for individual child-directed play. Power of Play (POP) is similar to mentoring, and provides students with positive one-on-one interactions. I also offer Friendship Groups. And all TK-2nd grade students will meet me in their classrooms presenting social-emotional tools this year.
I graduated from California State University, Chico with a B.A. in Developmental Psychology and obtained my Master of Science degree in School Counseling. I have over 20 years of experience working in education providing prevention, intervention, and life skills programs. I am a supporter of asset development and resiliency. My primary philosophy is to increase the building blocks of healthy development that help young people grow up healthy, caring, and responsible.
When not at school or with my family, you can find me practicing yoga and enjoying nature and the arts. If you see me around town, say “Hi!”
Thank you for welcoming me to Hooker Oak. I am proud to be a Sprouty!
Reading Pals is on our campus this year!
We are looking for volunteers to spend 1-hr a week reading with students on campus who just need a little extra dose of help to catch up this year. We have a reading center on campus and a very easy curriculum to use with the students- if you can read, you can help a student boost their confidence in reading! Join us today or perhaps you know of a grandparent, aunt, uncle, or friend that might enjoy volunteering 1 hr a week on campus. The program runs M-TH 8-10 am. Help us spread the word! This would be a perfect way to meet your Hooker Oak volunteer commitment!

Thank you for helping us keep our school open and our school community safe!
Parent Volunteer Vaccination Requirement
We Need Sprouty Store Donations and a Parent Helper!
We also need a parent volunteer to run the Sprouty Store. It would be a 2 hour a month commitment and a fantastic way to fulfill your volunteer commitment to our school! Not to mention, you will be making kiddos extremely happy! If you are interested, please contact Principal Emily at emullins@chicousd.org.
Mental Health & Wellness Resources
With growing concerns regarding COVID-19, we know this is a time of great uncertainty for all of us and our communities. Chico Unified families can take full advantage of the tele-health and virtual therapy resources made available through our partner Care Solace.
