History of the Movement
There were many divisions and sects in the Protestant Church during the 1800s. Many Interdenominational Church organizations attempted to Unify the Church throughout the 1800's, and even into the early 1900's. Even today you still see effects of the Ecumenical movement. The "Coexist" bumper stickers you see on vehicles are actually supportive of Ecumenicalism. There are also Ecumenical churches around today still pushing for movement.
What does Ecumenicalism teach today?
Unification of all religious gods or entities
Equal validity for all world view and religions
P.S. A prominent organization that influences many ecumenical Churches is the World Council of Churches
