Need to Know
Grade 10 students helping at the Elementary Track & Field Day Friday, May 19: 8:00 - 11:30 AM. The Grade 10s are involved with set up, takedown, group leadership, scoring, announcing and officiating at the Elementary Track & Field. Grade 10 students should wear SHS athletic uniform, House shirts, and running shoes to school. They should dress for the weather and wear sunscreen. Grade 10s are dismissed at 11:30 AM. No lunch served.
Grad Activities, Dinner & Dance, Friday, May 19: no classes for Grade 11s
10:45 AM - Dodgeball in MAC Gym with the Downey brothers (wear sports clothes).
12:00 PM - BBQ lunch at the Chomski residence.
7:00 PM - Grad Dinner/Dance at Le Windsor.
National Debate Championship in Calgary! The Senior National Debate Championship recently took place in Calgary, bringing together the finest debate teams from across Canada. Representing Quebec were five impressive teams, including the talented duo of Grade 11 students Yusuf Afif and Charles Seitz from Selwyn House. Read more.
Grade 9 Workshop Day: Grade 9 students participated in their second workshop day to explore their passions, develop collaborative skills, and build relationships with classmates and teachers. Read more.
Le français en action: Dans le cadre du cours de français, nous avons fait une sortie ludique. Sous le thème des énigmes et d'un jeu d'évasion, les élèves ont été mis au défi d'utiliser le français afin de résoudre le scénario dans lequel ils étaient plongés. » - Mr. Bureau, enseignant de français
Scientific Collaboration! Ms. Dalton's Grade 8 science students and Mr. Downey's Grade 11 physics students worked together to build pinhole cameras. Not only did they learn about optics and how light travels, but they were wowed to be able to actually capture an image on a sheet of wax paper using a box!
Track & Field GMAA Championships 2023: On May 15, Paul Evans (Grade 9) won 3 gold medals in 3 events (Javelin, Shot Put and Triple Jump) at the GMAA Track & Field championship meet. Due to his superb performance, he also won the Most Valuable Player Banner for the Cadet division. Read more.
Middle & Senior School Athletic Celebration: Selwyn House Athletics is thrilled to celebrate the 2022-23 season. If your son participated in one or more competitive programs you are cordially invited to join us on the evening of Thursday, May 25. There will be a reception starting at 5:30 PM in the west courtyard, followed by the Awards Ceremony at 7:00 PM in Coristine Hall. Please RSVP here if you can attend.
Volunteer Appreciation Tea & Coffee: Save the date! All Selwyn House parent volunteers are asked to join us on Tuesday, June 6 at 8 - 9:15 AM for a special celebration. Whether you volunteered an hour or 100 hours of your time, we are gathering under the tent in the Guzzo yard to thank you. No breakfast service in Coristine Hall on May 26 and June 1: Our last day of breakfast services will be June 9.

Spring Gryphon Sale Tally: Thanks to your generous uniform donations and all those who joined us yesterday morning, we raised $4391 for the Nancy Pitfield Endowment fund at the Spring Gryphon Sale. Donations of gently-used uniform articles are appreciated and accepted all year long (anytime, even in the summer!) and can be dropped off in the bins right inside the front door of the school. Thank you and see you at the September sale, date and time to follow!

May 15 - June 19: Student Meetings with your Advisor: Want to meet with your advisor to talk about summer opportunities, college and university visits & preparation, or find out more about College and University admissions? You can book a meeting here. Pick a date/time that works best for you. The calendar has been blocked off during the exam period between June 9 - 19 to accommodate more flexible hours. YMCA Community Service Award: Reminder to Grade 11 students that the deadline to apply for the YMCA Community Service Award is June 5. Please submit your application by email to Ms. Schwartz. Information about the application can be found in an email sent to all Grade 11 students and parents on May 4.
