Safe Traffic Reminders
In addition, please note the following:
The drop-off lane should be accessed from Orange Street via Pine Street or Hawthorne Street. Vehicles that enter through the outlet at Montvale Congregational Church cause a two-lane funnel effect which is unsafe for students who are exiting vehicles.
The drop-off lane is designed to keep vehicles moving. Should you need to park or exit your vehicle for any reason, please park on Utica Street across from the school and walk your child to the front door.
The front bus loop and parking area is closed to traffic between 8:00 – 9:00 am and 2:00 – 3:00 pm. Students should not be dropped off or picked up in the front bus loop. Please use the drop off lane or park on Utica Street.
The side parking lot next to the gymnasium is closed to traffic between 8:00 – 9:00 am and 2:00 – 3:00 pm. Only vehicles that use the handicap-accessible spaces in the side parking area should enter.
Due to the limited amount of parking at the school, we ask that parents park on Utica Street so that staff members may access the school parking lot in the morning.
Please observe all traffic and no parking signs on Orange Street and Central Street. All information in this letter is marked on signs around the school.
Schools are the Heart of Our Community
The Goodyear, along with the other WPS elementary schools, donated several boxes and bags of canned and non-perishable food items to the Woburn Council of Social Concern Food Pantry during February vacation. Thank for your generous donations.
Families can track their community service hours on Y.E.S. forms (office staff can sign to confirm the entries).
The Council of Social Concern is also offering a virtual Active Parenting class. See the button below for more information.

We will continue to update families on the upcoming MCAS administration. More information can be found on the DESE MCAS site.

News from the School Nurse
In January, Dr. Crowley sent notification of changes to the district's COVID-19 quarantine protocols. Letters with the updated information are available in English, Spanish (español), Portugese (português), and Haitian Creole (kreyòl ayisyen).
If you have been exposed to someone who is COVID-19 positive, please contact Nurse Doherty (kdoherty@woburnps.com) to review the protocols for attending or returning to school. In addition, you can find COVID-19 Testing Sites in Massachusetts here. Students who must quarantine or miss school due to medical reasons may participate in remote learning classes with the approval of the school principal. Contact Mr. Kessaris (kkessaris@woburnps.com) if you need more information.
All students in grade four must submit documentation of an up-to-date physical to the school nurse's office.
Massachusetts has updated its COVID-19 travel order. Use the link to access the current information.
Thank you for helping to keep our schools safe!
Early Childhood Program (Preschool) - Free Screening
Dear Goodyear families,
This flyer is intended to be shared with Woburn families and to serve as a reminder that the Woburn Early Childhood Program conducts screenings for children who have turned 3 years old by September 1, 2020 who present with concerns in one or more areas of her/his development.
What is Preschool screening? Pre-school screening is a brief assessment procedure designed to assess children's developmental levels and to identify children who, because of potential learning disabilities, or cognitive, communication and/or social challenges, may require a referral for a special education evaluation which is a more intensive level of diagnostic assessment.
Who is eligible for screening? Children living in Woburn who have turned 3 years old by September 1, 2020 are eligible to participate in the preschool screenings.
More information is available in English, Spanish (español), and Portuguese (português).
Attendance Reminders
If your child is home quarantining due to a directive from the Woburn Board of Health, please contact Nurse Doherty (kdoherty@woburnps.com) If your child is home quarantining, they may join remote classes, but please email Mr. Kessaris (kkessaris@woburnps.com) and your teacher so we are aware.
If your child is staying home for any other reason and you wish for them to join remote classes, please email me directly for approval. I am prioritizing virtual learning for students who are quarantining we must maintain appropriate class sizes in remote classes in each grade.
