GRE Staff Newsletter
For the week of August 12, 2019
Please text me your favorite summer pic! 419-308-8364
Dear Team,
This year we will welcome over 540 students and 60+ staff members! I can't think of a group of adults I would rather be on this adventure with. For any new staff members, this is my main method of communicating updates. Usually updates come out Sunday morning with a goal of setting you up for the week. It is very important that you read through the entire update-they are lengthy, but it eliminates numerous mid week emails. In addition, desktop computers are automatically sent a message from me daily that include updates pertinent for that specific day.
I would like to extend a HUGE thank you to Hoss, Adam, Becky and Nicole who worked their tails off getting the building cleaned and working around Yclub this summer. Without their efforts our building would not be entering it's 10th year looking this good! A huge thank you to as well to Angie Snyder for her work in entering students into their classes and dealing with a million and a half phone calls while getting all of our supplies ordered and delivered! These are some of the true heroes in our building. Be sure to give them a hug, high five or kind note to thank them for all their hard work.
As we get the year up and rolling feel free to text or email any questions you may have! I can't wait to have everyone together again!
Kate

2. Building Schedule-
Be sure to check the building schedule here. Due to the large enrollment increase in first, second and third grade it has been decided that splitting the fifth class into four sections for Special is not best for students (this would be 30+ first graders in an RA Class, 29+ in second and 27+ in third). Therefore, the building will be operating on a five day or A-E day schedule. No class will be split for Special this year. When your class has E day special, it will be in your classroom. Please plan accordingly for this. If you need a private space on an E day, feel free to use Katie and Chelsea's office, my office, or the conference room. More details about what students will be doing during the E day time will be forthcoming.
You will also find duty assignments and the Intervention schedule in the schedule document. Be sure to review this and be prepared for day one. If you have questions about your duty assignment see a member of PAC or reach out to me.
3. Dismissal-
Since first grade has the last special of the day, they will pack up prior to special and place their belongings in the hallway. First grade will exit the building first. Kindergarten will follow with the first bell, followed by fourth grade, then third and finally second.
4. Responsive Classroom-
You can click here to see a reminder of the Responsive Classroom components that will be implemented this school year. I will be given a one page document to you at our opening staff meeting. If you need assistance with developing rules or getting started with Morning Meeting come check out the resource in my office or talk with Katie or I.
5. Chromebooks-
Chromebooks are ready for pick up from the Sensory Room. As a reminder, K-3rd grade are a 1-2 ration. If you have an odd number, you should round up. The Chromebooks are labeled by each grade level to assist you in identifying what devices to grab. Don't forget your chargers!
*Reminder that teachers were supposed to clean devices prior to the end of the school year, the technology department did not clean the devices.
6. Good Boxes-
As you are unpacking your rooms and new supplies, please break down good boxes and place in the hallway for our custodians to store.
7. Meet and Greet-
If you are a support staff member, please stop in the office by 1:45 to grab a clipboard and location assignment to assist families in locating their classrooms. You will receive a Scavenger Hunt to set out that has student find Related Arts throughout the building and end up on the Playground for a Popsicle with me. Let me know if you have questions. The Scavenger Hunt papers will be in your mailboxes by Monday morning and can be turned in outside.
8. PAC Minutes-
PAC met yesterday for several hours to review goals for the upcoming school year, please read through the agenda and minutes and reach out to your PAC representative or myself with any questions you may have. Click here for the minutes.
