Book Fair
BOOK FAIR VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
The Book Fair kickoff was a success! The Book Fair will continue through 3/14. We need volunteers to help make sure it’s still successful. Jen McClelland, who has Chaired and Co-Chaired the Book Fair for the last 6 years is graduating to Linus Pauling with her 5th grader at the end of the school year. We need people to help ensure the Book Fair continues to be one of our school's largest fundraisers. If you are interested in taking a bigger role in the Book Fair in the future, or even just want to help out in some capacity, please contact Jen McClelland or Shannon Waddell. Please use the following link to sign up for volunteer spots. https://signup.com/go/QSkrAdR
If none of these opportunities work for you, but you're still interested in helping out, let us know, there is a lot that needs to be done!

Pe and wellness news
PE NEWS
While we don't get the snow and ice for sledding, the students were exposed to the winter sports of luge and skeleton using the always-popular scooter boards. We preceded that fun activity with some PACER practice to work on pacing and endurance. We started the lesson with a variety of moving and stationary exercises.
WELLNESS NEWS
We are engrossed in Wellness Month. Monday's assembly kicked of more than a dozen activities. The Kid's Heart Challenge is a way to improve knowledge and skills about heart health by signing up online. The Dream Big Marathon Challenge invites students to run 26 miles, read 26 books, and do 26 acts of kindness. If your child does not have the sign up information for either of those, please see Mr. Behrens. We have begun the March Madness Free Throw Competition for K-2 and 3-5. Coming up is the Conference Wellness Challenge as well as various school-based events. Here's a review of Wellness Month.
Contact Mr. Behrens with any questions.

Fine arts night
This year Fine Arts Night is Thursday, May 7th 2020. There are 3 ways you can help Mrs. Sanders with the art that's featured at Fine Arts Night.
1. Take art home to mount: Please email her if you would like to take art home to mount. You can pick up a box of art in the office; she will provide supplies and directions. We started mounting art a few months ago but more help is needed!
2. Mount art to panels on Tuesday and Thursday in the art room. The art room is reserved on Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30-2:30 to mount art to panels. This is Amanda Buchanan (an Adams Parent) last year, so it would be nice to have some new parents learning the ropes! Directions will be posted near Mrs. Sander’s desk.
3. Two weeks before Fine Arts Night: This option entails hanging art panels, create bulletin board displays, tag and display ceramic art, and working on special displays for fine arts night.
Please email Mrs. Sanders at rachael.sanders@corvallis.k12.or.us if you can help and any time you can spare is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your time and effort in helping to make this amazing event such a great success!
Box tops
Each Box Top clip is worth 10 cents...and they add up! There are 2 ways to collect and donate your Box Tops. Box Tops for Education is going digital, and in the transition they are accepting both clips and scans.
If your package has a traditional Box Top clip, cut it off and send it into school.
If your package has a Scan Your Receipt Box Top, download the free Box Tops for Education App, set your school for Adams Elementary School, and scan your grocery receipts. It's fast and easy!
The next Box Tops submission is due March 1st, but we will be accepting Box Tops all year.
Green Team News!
Each Thursday a group of 4th and 5th graders gather for Green Team. We have been very busy working on our Green School goals and other projects. So far we've made posters for the cafeteria reminding students not to waste food, educated students in how to use the sharing table, made presentations to classes about best practices in recycling, and made periodic checks to see how well classes are recycling.
Each month we will award the Recycling Trophy (a beautifully transformed 2-liter plastic bottle) to the class who has done the best job recycling. Green Team members check all classes each week to see if there is any garbage or non-recyclable material contaminating it.
Right now the team is creating a huge sign for the school garden embellished with plastic bottle caps. Check out our ongoing progress in the front entryway display case. We are still about 1,000 bottle caps short, so please collect caps and turn them into the office. There's a bucket right on the front counter. Thank you!
Volunteer training
Interested in Volunteering at Adams?
Please contact echo.rue@corvallis.k12.or.us and attend a monthly training.

The next volunteer trainings will be held on Monday March 16 from 12:30-1:00pm and Monday April 13 from 12:30=1:00pm. Please meet in the office and have completed the online volunteer application with background check online prior to volunteering (available on the school website).
ALL VOLUNTEERS- SAVE THE DATE! In this season of gratitude, we are planning ahead to hold a Volunteer Appreciation Event Wednesday May 13th from 7:30-8:30am. A short program will begin at 7:30 until the first bell. Then we will continue with a coffee social until 8:30 in the Library. We love our Volunteers at Adams!
