Principal's Message
Oh, Spring! There are so many reminders of renewal and rejuvenation that come with the Spring season. We are happily anticipating Spring Break at Warren Elementary! I wish you a restful and refreshing spring break beginning on Monday, March 25, 2024.
When school resumes on Monday, April 1st, we will be preparing for a Scholastic Book Fair, several educational field trips, and some exciting PBIS incentives. Also beginning this first week following Spring Break, we are shifting SPIRIT WEAR DAYS to Fridays for the remainder of the year. Please join us in wearing Warren T-shirts, other spirit wear, and/or blue and white. We will announce future sales of Warren Elementary Spirit Wear in the near future.
As you plan your April schedules, be sure to notice that there is no school on April 12th for Grading Day. We will host Spring Conferences on April 19th. Teachers will send details regarding Spring Conferences the first week in April.
Thank you, again, for your great support of students and staff. You are all vital to the success of our students. I am thrilled to be part of this marvelous Warren Eagles team!
Kind Regards,
Jen Stearns
Night of the Notables
Night of the Notables is coming! Each year our 3rd graders have a biographical assignment where they pick a historical figure and put together a report to share with our community. The students work on it at home with their families, make a tri-fold to share their information and dress up to look like their historical figure!
The big event is coming APRIL 9, 5:00-6:00. We look forward to seeing who will be showing up in our school.
(projects are due in class by April 3).

Library
THIS WEEK IN THE LIBRARY!: This week was Dewey Decimal refresher week–we took another spin through our library to re-familiarize ourselves with where our informational texts are located and how they are organized. Then we sorted books just like a librarian! This was a great exercise to show our students how the Dewey Decimal System works to support people seeking information as well as the people working in the library. We are really getting good at navigating our library independently–it is so much fun to watch!
WHAT TO DO ON YOUR SPRING BREAK:
Read great books!
Write and illustrate a book of your own!
Review a book on Bookopolis!
Find your LOST or OVERDUE Books!
Have a wonderful break ~ Mrs. Nudo

24-25 Kindergarten
We are so excited to welcome our newest students to the Scappoose School District family. Online kindergarten registration opens on April 12, 2024. Please click the link below for more information on how to register your student for school. The Scappoose School District is also supporting the online registration process by opening office hours at the district office on 4/12/24, from 8am-4:30pm. See the flyer above for more information.
Attendance Matters
We realize some absences are unavoidable due to health problems or family emergencies. But, we also know that when students miss too much school, regardless of the reason, it can cause them to fall behind academically. As long as your student is healthy, please encourage arriving to school on time, on or before 8:10 a.m., when school is in session. If you have questions about your student coming to school due to a health or mental health concern, please contact Jen Stearns, jstearns@scappoose.k12.or.us, or Rhonda Stecker-Cameron, rsteckercameron@scappoose.k12.or.us.
You can follow our attendance progress in several ways including reading our weekly newsletter, social media posts on the Scappoose SD Facebook page, and our Attendance Eagle Path displayed in the front of the school. By working together, we know that we can obtain our goal of regular attendance for all Warren students.

3rd Grade State Assessments
From the building State Testing Administrator:
3rd graders will start state testing at the end of April. This is a computer test in the areas of Reading and Math. They will be at computers in the mornings, completing reading, answering questions, and math questions and problems. There is also a SEED survey where they give answers to a variety of questions asking about their thoughts on school.
ALL 3rd graders will be taking the test and survey, unless a parent fills out an Opt Out form. If you do not want your child to participate in state testing please print out the forms below and return them to the school office OR contact your child’s teacher OR contact me (you can respond to this email) for a hard copy of the form.
Thank you!
