Tiger Family Newsletter Feb 2024
All the important deets to stay in the know!
A Note From Mrs. Gold
May It Be of Benefit
Hello Tiger Families,
A huge "thank you" to all of you for completing over 100 surveys! Your feedback is valuable. There were several great takeaways from your survey results. Some of the data points are:
- 92% of Parent/guardians know that our school places a high emphasis on literacy skills
- 32% of families are not aware of the anti-bullying education we do at school
- 95% of families feel that they can communicate with the school if they have a problem or concern and that we can work together to solve it
- A small percentage (4%) of families aren't involved at school because they don't feel welcome
- Overwhelmingly, families would like to see more art and music in our school
As you'll notice, I included both celebrations and concerns in the data points. The 2 items we'll be working on as top priorities are the last two. First of all, I understand some of the barriers to being involved in your child's school. My mom was one who felt that she didn't have a place at my school and in general, she avoided being on campus. Even parent conferences felt intimidating to her. Here at Shasta Meadows all of our staff feels passionately that we are a better team with YOU! Look for articles in upcoming editions of Tiger Talk and teacher's newsletters with ways for you to be involved. We are committed to being welcoming and inclusive. We need you. You are always welcome on our campus and in our classrooms.
Finally, I am so sorry that we have not been more communicative about our new Music and Art teachers. This year, our district funded a roving teachers for both art and music. Music is taught every Friday by Mrs. Beltran to all 2nd through 5th graders, and Art is offered to all grade levels. Our art teacher, Ms. Pyron, teachers here at SM twice a month. The addition of an art and music teacher in our district is a direct result of parent voice at our Local Control Accountability Plan meetings and surveys.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your input. We appreciate knowing what we are doing well and knowing what we need to be working on.
With gratitude,
Mrs. Gold

What is PTO?
Our PTO is the backbone of Shasta Meadows! Our dances, Jog-A-Thons and other special events held at here at Shasta Meadows, are organized and hosted by our PTO. Funds that they raise have helped us to by our water bottle refill stations, playground toys and equipment, fund our sports program to pay our referees, buy new uniforms etc. They are essential to our students.
We would welcome parents to come and listen (without commitment) to one of our PTO meetings to see just how much fun it can be! Already coming to the dances? Why not volunteer to help setup or decorate? We would love to have you!

February 6-March 5th: Pre registration window for incoming TK & K students and siblings. Applications must be completed and payment received to be confirm enrollment. All applications and payments must be in by 4:00pm on March 5th. Late applications will be considered during the open registration window.

We will offer as many available spots as possible in order to serve the maximum number of students at each site as staffing permits.
Submitting an application does not guarantee placement in the program
Tips and Tricks for Registration Success
1. Please read the Policy Pages all the way through. These pages include how our fees work, attendance requirements, homework and discipline policy etc. We have made significant changes so please look for updates!
2. Have your login credentials for parent portal AHEAD of time and do a test log in. If you do not know your log in credentials please connect with your student service clerk PRIOR to registration.
3. Have your most current pay stubs or first page of your 2023 1040 tax form ready and available for yourself and or your spouse/partner/significant other
4. Parent Portal works best on a laptop/computer or chromebook. Using your phone can make the process more difficult.
5. If you do not have access to proper technology please connect with your student services clerk for a paper application during your designated registration window or contact our office at 530-224-4223.
Parent Portal
As we make our way through the 23/24 school year, it's important that we are disseminating information to our parents in the most helpful and productive way. Some of the ways that we will send information home about what is happening is through email, call, text or newsletters.
It is extremely important as we send out the newsletter links or call home etc, that we have your working email and/or phone number. Particularly if there was an emergency and we need to reach you.
Please log into your Parent Portal and take a moment to review the emails, phone numbers and even who you have allowed to be called or be able to pick up your student when needed.
