Reading
Unit:
Mystery
Essential Question:
How does an author build suspense in a mystery novel?
Skills:
This week we will continue with the Mystery Unit. We will focus on point of view, reading with expression, the climax (the problem at it's worst), the falling action, and character's responses and resolution.
Homework:
Students should be reading a least 20 minutes a night. Reading Race log. They should also complete an appetizer, entre and dessert activity from the menu provided. menu of activities to choose from and complete. The log is due Friday, April 8th.
Spelling/Phonics
Skill:
This week we will be learning about Variant Vowels /u/ - u (flu), oo (boom and school), u_e (June), ew (blew), and ue (blue), We will use this sound and spellings in order to read, write, and spell words.
Homework:
Each night have your child choose one of the activities from the spelling menu. Your child/children may create a different activity to practice their words. Please remember to sign their spelling homework each night.
Test:
The spelling test will consist of 5 words and 3 high frequency words from this week's list. It will also include 2 words from previous skills. The students will then choose one word and use it in a meaningful sentence. This sentence will be graded for CAPSS.
Content (Science)
This week we will conclude our unit If...Then... in science. Our focus will be on temperature change and fuels that produce light and heat. We will then complete a unit assessment.
