Friday's Rewind
A look back, some time to reflect, and a look ahead...
MES School of Innovation Renovation Plans
John Heltunen and I met with an architect to get some ideas on paper for how we could create more flexible learning spaces for our students at MES. I shared this ideas with each grade level at their PREP time and got the go ahead to proceed with looking at this as a potential option. At this time, we have not received approval from the District to proceed with any such plans, but I will be working on this in the coming weeks. If indeed we are able to proceed, I will schedule additional times to meet with staff to collect input for our needs. If you would like to see these plans, please just stop by my office to take a peak.
The Engaged Learner vs. The Compliant Student
Dr. Justin Tarte (@justintarte) is one of my favorite people to follow on Twitter for quick quotes, messages, and blogs that will challenge my thinking about education. I was recently reading one of his past blog posts about what engaged vs. compliant students look like. As we continue to challenge traditional educational experiences and look for ways to provided better programming and learning opportunities for students, I find it valuable to reflect to take time to reflect on our current practices. How can we better provide an environment for engaged learners vs. compliant students?

We will be holding Kindergarten Registration Night on Monday, Feb. 22nd and could use some staff to help us out. If you are willing to be here, the Kindergarten staff and I would greatly appreciate it! Please let me know if you have any interest. You will be compensated for your time.
Top 50 Apps for Teachers
I came across this list of apps that I thought you would appreciate. We are using MANY of these, but a good place to look to get ideas for what else you can try!

Quick Reminders
- Remember that we will be wearing orange next week (Thursday) for our Pennies for Patients drive.
- We will be having our school wide popcorn party for reaching 5,000 Mustang Magic Moments so far this year. This will start at approximately 2:!5 and we will still need to coordinate 4th grade's time.
