Spotlight on Caldwell School District's Career Technical Education Programs
The Caldwell School District has a tradition of exemplary Career Technical Education (CTE) programs and courses. Programs include: Welding, Auto, Engineering, High School Business, Marketing, Agriculture, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Rehabilitation Services. Recently, Caldwell added new CTE pathways and courses:
- Caldwell High began four new CTE career pathways in 2020-2021: Administrative Services, Hospitality Services, Pharmacy Technician, and Medical Assisting
- Canyon Springs High School's new CTE career pathways include: Business Management, Natural Resources, and Family Consumer Science. (CSHS plans to add Digital Media Technology as a career pathway in the 2022-2023 school year)
We are grateful for the over $70,000 in state grants we received to develop these new CTE pathway programs. In addition, several of our CTE programs offer dual credit where students can earn college credits along with their high school credits using their Advanced Opportunity funds.
Caldwell's CTE pathways prepare students with life skills through internship opportunities, competitions, leadership organizations, and partnerships with industry. Through Caldwell's CTE pathways, students are prepared for their post secondary options. To learn more about CTE pathways, please contact your high school counselor.

Trustees vote to extend mask requirement
As COVID-19 continues to spread in our community, hospitals throughout the Treasure Valley still remain under Crisis Standards of Care. I would like to update you on some action taken by the Board of Trustees at their Regular Meeting on Thursday, October 14, 2021.
After reviewing COVID-19 data, attendance rates, and talking with health professionals, the Board of Trustees voted to extend the indoor mask mandate for all District students and staff. Trustees voted to revisit the requirement when one or more of these conditions are met:
- Hospitals in the Treasure Valley are no longer under Crisis Standards of Care
- COVID-19 Vaccines becomes available for children 5-11 years old
- When community spread is at moderate levels for Canyon County
The mask requirement still applies to school transportation. The Board will continue to review COVID-19 data and information at upcoming meetings to see if any other action needs to be taken.
The goal of the District is to keep school open and students attending every day.
We are still encouraging our families to support this goal by doing the following to reduce the spread of the virus in our schools and our community:
Please do not send your children to school if they are sick or have been exposed to a COVID positive individual or family member;
If your child is waiting on a COVID test result, please do not send them to school;
Please consider getting a COVID vaccination for individuals age 12 or older in your family. Here’s a site to schedule an appointment: https://phd3.idaho.gov/covid19/#Vaccine.
As a reminder, all visitors to our schools and district facilities are still required to wear masks.
