Information about Domestioc Goats
The domestic goat (Capra aegagrus hircus) is a subspecies of goat domesticated from the wild goat of southwest Asia and Eastern Europe. The goat is a member of the family Bovidae(A bovid (family Bovidae) is any of almost 140 species of cloven-hoofed, ruminant mammals with characteristic unbranching horns)and is closely related to the sheep as both are in the goat-antelope subfamily Caprinae. There are over 300 distinct breeds of goat. Goats are one of the oldest domesticated species, and have been used for their milk, meat, hair, and skins over much of the world.
It was believed that the first goat domesticated in Iran about 10,000 years ago. The skin of goats in ancient times, were used as parchment (a precursor to paper) and also to hold and transport wine and water.
The way goats "talk" is by bleeting. In the video, you will see how goats bleet, but a little differently...
Talking Goat - amazing
When goats bleet, they don't usually sound like this, but in this video this is very unusual and humerous.
Farm Goats
Farm goats like to graze. Did you know that goats have two stomachs and have rectangular pupils, while humans have circular pupils. No other common animals have rectangular pupils. Did you know that? Goats also swallow the food, Regurgitation is the expulsion of material from the mouth, pharynx, or esophagus, usually characterized by the presence of undigested food or blood. They then chew up the food again and swallow it into their second stomache for digestion.
Goats in Trees
The mountain goats will move on traveling along the forested valleys. They tend to travel in the middle of mountain blocks while doing so. The goats are observed to be hopping from one branch to the other instead of climbing slowly in search of food. The steep and narrow trunks of the trees are surpassed by goats which are navigating on treacherous conditions on the mountain. The goats are found to be able to climb even to the altitude of thirty feet.
Goat on a stump
When goats want something to do, they climb on rocks or old tree stumps. Not only does this keep them entertained, but it smooths out and shortens their hoofs. It's kind of the same thing when cats climb or scratch to trim their nails
