Organisation YouNet in Italy is looking for EVS volunteers for project (01/09/2016-31/08/2017)
The Center for disable people is located in Bologna, but it has many other locations also out of Bologna where volunteers might be asked to carry on activities. The volunteers will be mostly inserted in the socialising and integration activities for the users, such as the social-recreational activities of the centre, and the participation to the initiatives promoted by the territory. Besides, they are expected to work side by side with the staff members in some daily common activities (workshops, physical activity, external activities and special events, excursions).
Volunteer should have interest in social integration of disabled people, sensitivity towards their demands and needs. Previous experience in the field of disability would also give us an interesting opportunity for sharing best practices. Basic knowledge of Italian is needed.
Volunteers can live and work in a reasonably safe and protected environment. Both the Centre and the mini-apartments available are safe places in compliance with latest safety standards.
Volunteer profile (European Voluntary Service)
basic Italian knowledge:
this is a paramount criterion, since the volunteer will have to deliver a service based on relationships, and in particular based on a helping relationship. It is then necessary for the volunteer to understand the indications he/she will receive from our educators, and to be able to communicate with the patients;
age between 22 and 28 years old:
We are offering a challenging experience, and this presumes that the volunteer has a great sense of responsibility. Based on our experience, we think it’s better to offer this experience to young people of minimum 2 years old;
driving licence –type B:
the volunteer could be asked to carry out the accompaniment tasks of disabled people from their home to the Day Centre and vice-versa; or he/she could be asked to take care of all the patient’s movements in the course of a day, such as going to all the activities and going on trips. Cars and vans are provided by the community;
volunteering experience:
any experience related to assistance and leisure activities is considered a plus, as well as a work/education path in fields related to our services (assistance –education)
Long term EVS project „Catch the Skills 2” in Poland (starting 01/09/2016)
DESCRIPTION
Youth mobility creates the conditions for getting new competences,
overcoming isolation and xenophobia, strengthening of European identity and citizenship, as well as supports the exchange of knowledge. One of the most sustainable kinds of mobility is European voluntary service. EVS creates possibilities of self-development for participants, getting experience and discovering the world as well as volunteering actions in fields important in concrete local community.
The main needs of our project are:
- promotion of youth mobility among young people of Wrocław and Lower Silesia, based on activities of EVS as a way to develop competences of volunteers and beneficiaries. Expanding an offer of non-formal education - intercultural experience for volunteers, hosting organizations, beneficiaries, local community. The importance of intercultural learning is hard to overestimate. Through the project we would like to help to spread and learn tolerance among the local community towards the people coming from countries based not only in EU. Hosting a young volunteer from abroad in the certain place during long period of time will help to brake the stereotypes and develop tolerance and openness for the cultural diversity, as well as enrich the local society with international events.
- exchange of experience. Societies of partner countries are on different stages of the development and reformation because of historical and social differences. That's why exchange of experiences between the countries might be very important and useful. Volunteers coming to our project might learn more about work in NGO’s in different countries, cultural diversity and active participation.
- activating young people. Each action of the project will show the volunteer how important the active participation is. Volunteers will have a support and possibility to come out with initiative and ascertain how useful the smallest action can be.
VOLUNTEER’S PROFILE
To the project we will involve young people regardless to their level of education, interests, world outlook, social status, economic class, sexual orientation or religion. Expectations towards volunteers are their motivation, mind openness, creativity, tolerance and respect towards different cultures. The project is aimed also to persons with limited chances, who’s needs are connected with helping to others, personal growth and education. EVS can’t be a direct tool to reduce the unemployment but it helps to learn new competences and develop attractiveness of volunteers at the labor market.
Through work of sending organizations process of recruitment will be conducted among young people who are mostly not employed in their countries. Actions of the project will help to promote EVS as an alternative way for the development of enterprise for its participants. Additional condition is knowledge of Polish or English language at communicative level.
In the project 15 volunteers will take part. Countries: Italy, Macedonia, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, France, Ukraine, Georgia.
