A Message From Dr. Hawley
Dear families,
We have had a great week at Brimfield! We had the opportunity for the Brimfield Fire Department to bring a fire truck for kindergarten students to see. We also had our first Sweet Treats with the Principal. This has taken the place of Pizza with the Principal, which you may remember from last school year. Each month, a student from every class is nominated by their teacher to have a Sweet Treat with the Principal. Students are nominated based on following school expectations related to the acronym S.O.A.R, which reminds students to strive to be safe, outstanding, accountable, and respectful.
This week many of the teachers have been focusing on having their students practice logging into Google Classroom and getting onto their classroom Zoom link. We want to prepare students in the event that our building has to be closed for a period of time. Please make sure you are prepared as well and have an alternate plan in case our building moves to a remote learning model. Suffield Elementary is currently using this model due to a lack of substitutes and has been doing so for nearly a week. Our district has seen, first hand, how quickly a building could be closed.
Thank you for all of your support and for all you are doing to help your child. Have a great weekend!

Remote Learner Helpful Hints
1. Absence: If you know your child will be absent from one of their online classes, please call the office at 330-673-8581(select the call off line option) or send an email to: Betsy.Dalziel@fieldlocalschools.org to report their absence. If your child is absent due to a doctor appointment, please email or fax the doctor's note to Mrs. Dalziel. Our fax number is 330-677-2519. This way the absence can be coded as an excused medical absence.
2. Online class links: When joining your online class, click on your link 1 to 2 minutes before the class starts (NO SOONER). At the start of class, teachers will see your child in their waiting room and have them join the class. If you are waiting for an extended period of time, try refreshing and clicking on the link again. Please do not wait to enter a classroom for an extended period of time. You can call the office at 330-673-8581 for assistance.
3. Technical Support: If you are having chromebook issues not related to your internet connection you can send an email to Remotelearning@fieldlocalschools.org and someone will respond to your request.

Hello Field Families!
Using mindfulness is a great way to help with anxiety. Mindfulness can help calm anxious feelings, help students think through problems and also help them stay focused on what is important. Mindfulness is living in the here and now, focusing on what is right in front of you. Using different techniques, like coping skills, can help bring kids and really anyone to the moment they are in. Using your senses, is a great one. Practice mindfulness by asking your students to use their senses when you are together. Point out 5 things you can see right now, what are 4 things you can feel right now, what are 3 things you can hear right now, what are 2 things you can smell right now and what is 1 thing you can taste! This simple but fun activity is a great way to start building mindfulness!
