Mrs. D's Weekly Class Newsletter
Week of January 22
Valentine's Day Party
We will have a small Valentine's Day party on February 12th at 1:30. This is a change from earlier, with teachers being asked to have all Valentine's Day parties completed before 2:15 this year. Students will make a small craft and then we will exchange Valentine's Day cards and eat some goodies. Parents are welcome to attend.
Alternate Assessments
New York State Alternate Assessments for grades 3-5 will be done a little differently this year. Grade 4 Science Assessment will be conducted through the month of January and are due before February break. The ELA and Math portion of the exam will be done in the Spring and are to be conducted on a computer. There is still not a lot of information about the ELA and Math exams at this time, but I will forward the information as I receive it.
Outside Recess
Classes can take their students outside for recess if the weather is above 20 degrees. 2nd grade currently takes their class outside every Wednesday. Our class will try to go outside every Friday afternoon. The school rule is your child needs to have boots, snow pants (or another pair of pants to wear over their clothing), hats/gloves, and a warm coat. While we have some boots, hats/gloves, and coats in our room, we really do not have extra pants. We want every child to have the chance to go outside to play together so please contact me if sending in winter clothing will be difficult.
