MRSD seeks input for Portrait of a Graduate process
Monomoy Regional School District is embarking on the process of creating a Portrait of a Graduate. The creation of a Portrait of a Graduate will help inform Monomoy educators from elementary school through high school about the skillsets and mindsets today’s students and graduates need to be successful in their futures. As part of this process, there will be a number of focus groups held for students, parents and caregivers, staff, town officials, and business and community members, at which attendees can share their vision for Monomoy schools. The dates for each focus group as well as more information on Monomoy’s Portrait of a Graduate endeavor can be found on the website at https://www.monomoy.edu/portraitofagraduate. In the coming weeks, there will also be a survey sent out to allow stakeholders to share their input on this process. We look forward to hearing from many voices to help develop this “Portrait” to guide Monomoy schools in better preparing students for college, careers, and life.

Parents/Guardians wanted for MRHS School Council
We look to build a strong school advisory council this year to guide our important work. A school council is a representative, school building-based committee that meets quarterly and is composed of the principal, parents, teachers, community members, and students. School councils are to assist principals in:
- Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards
- Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school
- Reviewing the annual school building budget
- Formulating a school improvement plan
- Review the student handbook
If you are interested please send an email message to principal Jennifer Police at jpolice@monomoy.edu indicating your interest in serving on the school council.

WEEKLY ATHLETICS ROUNDUP: Week of September 26th, 2022
Cross Country - Senior Jack Yuskaitis
This week the Boy’s and Girl’s Cross Country teams faced Cape Cod Academy and Saint John Paul. The boys had an impressive victory against both Cape Cod Academy, and Saint John Paul. Monomoy’s top three boys were Gareth Vos (16:20), James Machnik (17:10), and Jack Yuskaitis (18:32). The Girl’s Cross Country team fought hard but had a tough loss against Cape Cod Academy, but came through with a win against Saint John Paul. Monomoy’s top three girls were Rhiannon Vos (17:28), Courteney Dery (19:51), and Megan Gogal (22:53). Good job all around.
Girls Soccer - Senior Melissa Velasquez
Girl’s soccer had a great week. First, we faced a challenging Sturgis West team Tuesday night. We came out strong and tied with a 2-2 score. Great hustle throughout the team and great defense by Ciarra Terry and Lily Furman. Thursday we faced off against Sturgis East. With great teamwork and finishing, we finished the game with a 5-0 win. Goals by Karah Deveau, Lucy Mawn, KiKi Pigo-Cronin, and Karlie Monteiro. Hard work by everyone.
Football - Junior Jake Vagenas
We went to the vineyard this weekend and lost 21-0. The momentum shifted early when we let up a kick return for a touchdown on the opening kickoff. They then scored two other times throughout the game on more broken plays. This game was better than past vineyard games at least. But the offensive line broke down a bit and there was not much time to throw the ball. Overall we learned from this game and are hoping to beat SJP this weekend.
