Student VOICE and Student CHOICE
The Cardinal Post school newsletter is written by our Thorpe Creek students. Please remember that we are young authors, young journalists. We are mimicking real world journalism and writing with short deadlines and prioritizing breaking news. In this special publication we are telling the story of our learning from home during our extended school closures. We hope you enjoy our articles and notice how our writing, photography, and observations grow and mature throughout this school year!
Thank you for reading!

What are you reading?
Books rock! Unsure what book to read next, here are some favorite book recommendations from a few of our TCE Cardinals!
Math Escape Rooms
In my class, we do math escape rooms. It is not your average escape room because instead of solving clues, you solve math problems. You have to use your mathematical brain to find out what each symbol means, when you find out the value of each symbol, then you can solve the puzzle. After you finish the puzzle, you can get out of the escape room. The math escape room is a fun and challenging game to play when doing virtual learning.
Snow Fun!
By: Faye
What do I like to do in the snow? Well, I like to make snowman. If you do not know what a snowman is it basically three big balls made of snow. It is really fun. I also like to have snowball fights with my friends. It so much fun but my favorite is going sledding. Every year we go to my friend’s house because they have a big hill in their backyard. So that is what I like to do in snow. What do you like to do in the snow?

Our Journalists End of the year Traditions

Some winter activities my family does is:
- snowball fights
- drink hot cocoa
- open presents on Christmas morning
- watch movies
- set up a tree
- eat lots of yummy food especially desserts
What do you do?
By: Elise
These are some things my family does during winter. We go see the Indy zoo lights and the “long wait” Fairground lights. We watch movies like “The Star”, “The Grinch Stole Christmas”, “Charlie brown Christmas”, and many more. We write to Santa, go visit him, and make cookies for him to eat. We go ice-skating and in the morning we find our elf, Poof. We make gingerbread houses and go visit family. And on Christmas Eve, after church and dinner, we drive around some neighborhoods in our pajamas with hot chocolate to see Christmas lights. I love all of these activity’s, but the best part is being with your family.
