U School Humanities (Teacher Supported)
Exhibition Over ... Moving On to Argumentative Writing (November 30th - December 14th 2016)
Can you believe it? We are few weeks away from our Winter break...
But we so much work to do. Many students have demonstrated that they understand the opening routines in our Teacher Supported space. Many students are completing their DAP's ( Daily Action Plans) which helps with goal setting, check-ins and monitoring our progress.
In the coming weeks we will focus on the last 5-7 minutes by resetting the class space, reflecting on what work is or is not getting done and our overall class progress.
We have started a new unit on Religious Freedom and Writing Argumentative Essays. It's best you stay on track in this unit and catch up with other missing work.
Here is what's been going on and what's coming up.

Class Dojo 100 Club Pizza / Keep Checking Your Dashboard
We did not get to have a DOJO pizza party for parent sign up ( No class had at least 15 parents sign up)
So we have a new incentive. The 10 students who reach 100 DOJO points will get a pizza & wing party.
Students and parents should note that we use DOJO to track positive interactions in the classroom ( check-ins, mini-lessons, tune ups and conferences) .
WARNING just because you have lots of DOJO points does not mean you are getting work completed. You have to visit your DASHBOARD to see what work you are completing or missing
During students conference time we look at both DOJO and your DASHBOARD to help tell your story of your performance in the Student Supported Humanities Classroom
Parents and students are encouraged to sign up.

Unit 2.0 Election Madness ( PAST DUE)
Essential Question: How might we make our election process more accessible to all Americans.
For this unit, you will be creating an infographic or other informational text for a specific audience of your choice.
You can make a chart to explain to your parents why they should vote, a compare/contrast to show your peers where the candidates stand on an issue you care about, or explain how we elect a president to the community.
Your final product will be graded on informational writing competencies. You will have freedom in determining the specific focus of your infographic, but it must fall into one of the following categories:
Issue Focus
Candidate Focus
Electoral Process Explainer
Voter Engagement
- Data Analysis (only with educator permission)
